The temperatures having been dropping a few degrees here in Gainesville, collegiettes! That means winter is right around the corner. As we break out our scarves, boots, and hoodies, we can’t forget to break out our necessary beauty items as well! Here are a few tips to keep your skin, hair, and lips as soft as your favorite sweater:

Face Moisturizer: The winter days can bring more than just a glow to your cheeks! Make sure to keep your face moisturized to prevent from flaking and drying out. Some recommend ointment moisturizers that are oil-based, which can leave your skin softer and prevent clogging of your pores, rather than a water-based cream.

Lip Balm: Dry, chapped lips can be a real buzz-kill when you’re looking for a kiss under the mistletoe. But not to worry, you can keep your lips soft a number of ways. When using generic ChapStick isn’t enough, products like Shea butter or Vaseline can work wonders. Make sure you fight the urge to lick your lips because it causes more chapping!

Hair Oil: Don’t let dry, droopy hair give you the winter blues. Keep your hair healthy and shiny by grabbing some extra-virgin olive oil from your pantry and applying it to damp hair then covering with a hot towel. You can also let oils sit on your hair before hopping in the shower. Almond, coconut, or avocado oil works, too!

Body Lotion: Itchy elbows and knees from dried out skin can make the layered clothing quite uncomfortable. It’s crucial to keep your body hydrated and moisturized during the dry winter season, and there are tons of different lotions that help! Some popular products include Cetaphil Daily Advance Ultra Hydrating Lotion and Eucerin Dry Skin Therapy Original Moisturizing Cream.

Try to stay soft this season, and be thankful we don’t live up North!
