MY Country Concert Recap
On June 19th, I attended the “Broken Branches Tour”, where I saw Dierks Bentley, Zach Top, and The Band Loula. As a veteran of over 30 country concerts and having survived two Stagecoaches, the live music that night sounded as if I was listening to the radio. However, what caught my attention were all of the amazing cowgirl outfits during the duration of that concert.
Speaking of cowgirl outfits, for this particular concert, I decided to wear what I call “city girl goes country”. I opted for a small t-shirt from Garage that stated “I heart Cowboys and Tequila” paired with my favorite low-rise jeans from Hollister with pink bows on the butt pockets. What also caught my attention was my Ariat cowgirl belt, a treasured piece from my childhood that I managed to squeeze into (bought from Boot Barn).
Now you are probably thinking…where in the world are her boots??
While I love how cute boots look with most denim, I am at a dinosaur age where I need sneakers (aka New Balance 550s) to be able to stand and dance all night long.
For summer country concerts, overall, perfecting a stylish outfit is all a part of the fun for anyone in the audience!
Here are some important statements for your next summer country concert outfit…
“I’M Head Over Boots For You” (or Whatever Jon Pardi Says)
Cowgirl boots are one of the most important factors in country fashion, especially for summer concerts. Although typically meant for working in the hot sun, these multi-purpose boots can be tricky to pick the right ones for you.
Interested in boots? Three important facts to know:
- The Classic Boot
- Boots, the more basic the better, with simple shades like tan, black, white, and red. These various colors, in fact, pair well with most outfits, from denim to cotton.
- All About The Style
- In country fashion, there are four different types of toe shapes: pointed, square, rounded, and cutter. Each is dramatically different but unique to whoever is wearing them.
- Alongside the toe shape, if you want your boots to stand out consider getting some with patterns, rhinestones, bows, and or the more traditional embroidery.
- More Dirt, The Better (PSA – NEVER PERCHASE BOOTS THE NIGHT(S) BEFORE A CONCERT)
- Do yourself a huge favor and always make sure to break in your new boots before you attend a long concert. Most of us have been in this situation (I understand the outfit really matters) but seriously wear and tear is the best part about cowgirl boots. Because it genuinely saves your feet from blisters (and blood) all while you are serving cowgirl.
Bless Your Heart: The Cobalt Blue Effect of 2025
Cobalt blue is this summer’s color of the season, thanks to the emo cowgirl herself, Megan Moroney. This shade of blue is bold, confines confidence, and even though becoming popular on Tiktok, it is made to look stunning under a concert’s bright stage lights. Whether you are going full-on cowgirl or keeping it casual, there are a few good techniques to style this vibrant color.
Let’s start with a cobalt blue sundress (or long skirt) that is perfect for summer since it is breezy and a money piece. Pair it with traditional white cowgirl boots that are timeless and a casual outfit. However, if you want a more basic yet full of country vibes, reach for your favorite denim (shorts or skirt) and style it with a cobalt blue top. Also, pairing with chic white boots that can be found at a Boot Barn or any other retail store. Be sure to pair this outfit with silver or gold jewelry to give more pop to the blue!
This combination is not one to pass up because it is made for dancing to the main act! Cobalt blue makes all women, especially Megan Moroney, feel confident whether that’s on the stage, on the lawn, or in everyday life.
Tis The Season For A Cowgirl Hat
Considering buying a cowgirl hat to capture the aesthetic?
A well-chosen hat that calls to you adds authenticity to your summer country concert outfit. Ultimately, a cowgirl hat keeps the look together with any outfit, especially if paired with all the components in the article (hint hint: read more to find out!).
When shopping, look for amazing brands like Stetson or Charlie 1 Horse that are both giving cowgirl energy and or being a coastal cowgirl vibe. This leads to the hat tip that felt is better for a cooler environment, while a more straw type is the go-to for summer.
Seriously, find something that screams “I’m here for live country music and I’m going to look good doing so”.
Belt Buckle Boogie
Like boots and hats, belt buckles are another cowgirl staple that should not be missed out on. First in deciding on what buckle is going to be true to your outfit! With options like brass, gold, classic pewter, and or silver. Consider what kind of design would enhance the outfit. Next, try to picture which size of a buckle would be most appropriate (my advice is the simpler the better, so you are able to wear it over and over again).
In stores like Boot Barn, there are so many options to choose from. However, if you want something a bit more unique or vintage, try exploring a thrift store or even exploring something handmade (from Etsy).
Finally, the belt buckle should be almost the last accessory in the outfit selection mostly based on what should or should not be added since not all country outfits need a buckle.
Foundational Denim
Most country summer concert outfits are not complete unless it has some type of denim. From classic denim skirts to a really cute denim dress, the key is to find a pair of shorts or a skirt and make sure it does not hurt while sitting or dancing (ultimately the test most of our Moms made us do as kids).
Carrying on with selecting which wash of denim, either light or dark wash will be perfect for a summer afternoon. Selecting your most desired piece of denim may be tricky but in country fashion the darker wash of jeans gives a more polished look.
My tip would be to consider jeans from Wrangler, ldyllwind (Fueled By Miranda Lambert), or Levi’s.
Accessory Overload: A Love Story
A part of the concert look, especially for summer country concerts, accessories are a critical aspect towards infusing your personality so that you can be confident the entire night. A great way to think about accessories is to think of them as a “finishing touch”!
Here are two important accessories of 2025’s to elevate your look:
- Silver or Gold Arm Cuffs — These arm cuffs have been on the mainstream rise for the last three or so years, and they are simply not going anywhere but getting styled for concert attire. There are many types to choose from, such as silver or gold. You can find these cute pieces anywhere; my favorites are the cuffs from Edikted.
- Charm Necklaces and Stacked Necklaces — Similar to arm cuffs, body chains across your waist, two/three necklaces stacked together, and/or a chunky charm necklace have been on the rise in trendy accessories. This serves as following a trend, but putting your twist on it, such as adding unique small or large pieces.
Say Goodbye To The Stars
From the moment the crowd goes wild when the main act goes on to getting stuck trying to leave a congested parking lot after the show, concerts are not just made for music but in the last ten years they have evolved to a safe space of self expression. This self expression is so important in which reminds us that we all just want to look good and have a good time.
Yeehaw, and see you under the lights!
