I Bought The iPhone 11: Was It A Bust Or A Must?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCLA chapter.

Every September, Apple releases a cooler, more impressive phone that becomes a must-have sensation around the world. After two years of using my iPhone 7, I was ready to trade it in for the iPhone 11. This year, Apple made it extremely difficult to decide which phone I wanted because there were 6 beautiful colors to choose from. I was stuck between the green and purple options, but I finally decided to go for the green. I had seen my friends use their iPhone Xs since that version came out, so I knew that once I got my phone, I would have a great camera to take pictures with. However, I did not know what else to expect from the phone. Luckily, I was not disappointed!

One of the first things I noticed about the phone was that it already had iOS 13 days before it was released, so that already made me feel like I was VIP. And as I had predicted, the camera blew my mind. The Ultra Wide camera that comes with the phone takes better pictures than some professional photography shots I have seen. According to Apple’s website, “iPhone 11 shoots beautifully sharp 4K video at 60 fps across all its cameras and the Ultra Wide camera captures four times more scene.” Now I can zoom in on pictures and not sacrifice image quality.

Another impressive factor was the battery life. I was accustomed to carrying around 3 portable battery chargers everywhere with me, so the “all-day battery life” sounded too good to be true, but I can honestly say that it holds up. I carry around one portable charger just in case I use my phone more than usual one day, but I have not had to use it since getting the phone.

Although it is a feature Apple introduced with the iPhone X, I was super excited to finally have facial recognition. At the time, having DNA finger scan with my iPhone 7 was great, but like all technology, it got old with time. The facial recognition is convenient because, like everyone that has used it, all I have to do is look at my phone and it’s ready to be used. Also, the phone has a feature that allows you to check your phone without having to lift it up. All you have to do is give it one tap, and it lights up.

Despite all the amazing technology that comes with the phone, I have to admit, my favorite thing is the color. Although, it’s described as “green,” the color is closer to teal. Even if you don’t consider its functionality, the phone itself is just beautiful to look at. I can now assure you that the iPhone 11 is a MUST
