Fun Swimsuit Styles to Try This Summer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCLA chapter.

It is almost summer, so that means its time to break out the bathing suits and hit the beach! Sometimes it gets boring to wear the same styles of swimsuits every year, which means this can be the year to experiment with different fun and sassy styles. Unsure of what styles to look into? Check out this list and see what bathing suit you want to try next!

1. Fringe

Fringe is a great way to add some variety to your bathing suit collection. You can pair a fringed top to a bottom that you already have to create a fun new look with a piece that you already have. Fringe tops come in a variety of styles including halter and strapless, allowing for maximum customization.

2. One Piece with Cutouts

Want the coverage (or lack thereof) of a bikini but want to try out wearing a one piece? Try getting one with cutouts! This style is really popular right now and comes in a ton of really cool patterns and solid colors.

3. High-waisted

High-waisted bathing suits are a stylish way to experiment with two pieces. These come in a ton of styles, especially if you want to go for a more retro look. If they are good enough for Taylor Swift, they are certainly good enough for you and me.

4. Tankini

Not interested in showing as much skin but still want the two-piece look? Then tankinis are the way to go. They cover more of your stomach and can come in tight or flowy styles, a definite divergence from the styles that most people our age are wearing right now.

5. Retro One Piece

Embrace your inner pin-up with a retro one piece! Pair with some red lipstick or cat-eye sunglasses to make people think you have come right off the page of a 50’s fashion magazine.

6. Funky straps

So you love your bikinis, but the same top and bottom in different colors are not doing it for you anymore, try experimenting with unique straps both on the tops and the bottoms. They may give you some crazy tan lines but you will look fierce getting them!

The most important thing to keep in mind about getting bathing suits is to rock whatever you are most comfortable in! It doesn’t matter if you have curves or are incredibly slim, wear that bright bikini or rock a more conservative one piece. Being confident in the swimsuit you are in is going to shine through no matter what style you choose to wear. Get shopping!
