Keeping Up With the Kardashians: How I Feel About the Ending of the Iconic Series + My Favorite Sister

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

Anyone living in the U.S. must know of the Kardashian-Jenner family clan. The Kardashians started as an ordinary family growing up and living in Los Angeles and quickly rose to fame and stardom through their father, a respected lawyer, and by forming relationships with some of the hottest celebrities and designers. Each of the five sisters now has high-profile careers in the spotlight as socialites, entrepreneurs and models. The signature show Keeping Up With the Kardashians has aired 20 total seasons spanning 13 years. The series documents the Kardashian-Jenner sisters’ everyday personal lives, including all the tea spilled between family members, friends, partners, and the public. This is how I feel about the series ending, in a nutshell.

“Relatable”

I have always been a fan of reality TV, hands-down. My interest in the lives of the Kardashians goes back to high school — when I was watching episodes here and there and being more active on my social media platforms. My first impression of the Kardashian family was that they were all wealthy, pretty and recognized by the world as “famous for being famous.” It seemed all the much too accurate, especially after continuously spotting a pattern of how dramatic and emotional the girls would react over some of the little things. However, the more episodes I latched onto, the more I learned the Kardashian lingo and understood the humor. You can find me now in my early 20s as a college student following their Instagram socials to stay in the loop with the expanding family, gossip and fashion. I can add a little laughter to my day by reading some funny and relatable memes or videos. Relatable…I say, toward very few of the “struggles” they face. Not to mention, the Kardashian-Jenner sisters are up to date with the current trends that people in my generation typically experience and follow.

“Influential”

As much as I enjoyed tuning in for the roller coaster filled with ups and downs on Keeping Up With the Kardashians — from savage arguments and fights, to tears of breakups, to milestone accomplishments — I do believe and feel that there is a right time for everything to happen in its place. I understand that belonging to one of the top wealthiest and famous families in American history is not all fun and games behind the scenes. In our world today, the Kardashians have made influential progress within other parts of society like politics, human rights, the economy, entrepreneurship, public press image and reputation, social media, the music and film industry, and feminism. Away from the public eye’s view, each of the sisters’ own personal lives need and should be respected. Many haters and critics are not bothered to speak out about their opinions on controversial topics, but there are boundaries when it comes to privacy and confidentiality. Somehow, I can imagine ending the series will provide relief and a peace of mind. Even though it’s an emotional and memorable time for the Kardashian-Jenner sisters as they close this chapter that they completed together as a family, it will open an opportunity for each one to focus on themselves and advance their own future paths. It would not surprise me to see the next generation of Kardashians take over their parents’ series in the near future!

“Chill”

It’s what you have been waiting for — my favorite Kardashian-Jenner sister is Kendall Jenner, without a doubt. Personally, I appreciate how Kendall has a natural aura in her personality where she always shows genuine care and concern toward those surrounding her. She has a way of handling situations appropriately with others that comes off as chill, mature and fair. Kendall has a soft heart that forgives her sisters and leaves the past behind. Kendall is often physically viewed as more natural, with a slim perfect frame and a clear, natural face. Kendall Jenner is someone who has created long-lasting friendships throughout her life with those whom she enjoys collaborating with and or just hanging out with. One thing I anticipate for Kendall is being with someone who makes her happy to start a family with. This would mark an important breakthrough for the Kardashian-Jenner clan, as Kendall is the only one out of all the siblings currently without a family of her own.

After sharing my thoughts, opinions and views about the Kardashians and their show, I recommend thinking back on what this series means to you! Think about who your favorite sister is and how you feel about the end of an era full of all things Kardashian!
