I don’t know about you, but I can’t believe it’s already mid-way through October. Last I checked it was the end of summer and we were just getting back at school. All of a sudden Spirit Halloween stores are popping up, candy is being sold in bulk and every store you go into has an influx of pumpkin merch.

With Halloween right around the corner and time flying by faster than ever, I have found it challenging to get into the spirit of “spooky szn.” Here are a couple of things you can do with friends, loved ones or by yourself to get into the Halloween spirit for the next few weeks.

Scary Movie night

Pick your favorite scary movie (or cheesy Halloween movie), bake pumpkin cookies, wear some cozy Halloween pajamas and invite some people over. It’s a foolproof and simple way to instantly get in the Halloween spirit.

Decorate your apartment/bedroom with fall decor

There are so many simple ways to spice up your living space to get into the spooky spirit. Target, HomeGoods, T.J. Maxx and even Five Below or Dollar Tree have many cost-effective options such as pillows, blankets, pumpkins, fall scented candles and other little touches.

Halloween Horror nights

While this isn’t a necessarily cost-effective option, Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios will definitely immerse you into the world of Halloween.

Drive-in Movie

If you want to spice up the traditional Halloween movie night, look for some drive-in movie options. There are some within a few hours of Orlando, such as Silver Moon Drive-in in Lakeland, Joy Lan Drive-in in Dade City and Ocala Drive-in. The nostalgic atmosphere of a drive-in movie will make a film even more memorable and scary.

Pumpkin picking/decorating

Make a day of going to a pumpkin patch, taking some pictures, picking out pumpkins and then painting, carving or decorating them.

So now that you have some ideas, grab a friend, date, or family member and start getting in the spirit! Spooky season is one of my favorite times of the year, and only lasts for a month, so try and enjoy it while it lasts.
