With UCF’s population of over 70,000 students, the start of the fall semester can be overwhelming. Students scramble to find their classes, search for the best study spots on campus, and, most importantly, look for ways to get involved. With over 750 registered student clubs and organizations, it’s difficult to figure out which one’s a good fit. When I was a freshman, I didn’t even know how beneficial some of these clubs could be. So, with the new academic year, here are 5 clubs at the University of Central Florida you should consider joining.

Starting with a more academically focused club, UCF MedLife is for students working towards a healthcare career. The club offers students the opportunity to volunteer and work with low-income families who require medical care and help.
Additionally, the club offers a variety of resources to help undergraduate students prepare throughout their academic journey at UCF, with workshops, mentors, and even trips abroad to serve underprivileged communities.

Wags for Walks partners with Orange County Animal Services to raise mental health awareness for both animals and humans. It focuses on helping these animals get adopted and find their forever homes. Their events center around socials with the dogs.
One of their events was a Book Buddies Social where members could read their favorite books to a dog in the shelter. With community walks, fundraisers, and other events, the club is steadily growing, and it’s still relatively new, since it was founded in 2023. If you love dogs, this club is definitely for you.

The start of any semester means it’s time to make new friends and explore new opportunities. It can be daunting at first, but the Discomfort Club goes above and beyond to help students face their fears and branch out socially. Founded in 2025, the club offers a variety of events for students to test their comfort levels.
The club has hosted karaoke, hikes, and even movie nights! If you’re a freshman looking to meet new people and make your fall semester memorable, this club is a great choice.

Recognized as the oldest club on campus, Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) used to be exclusively for engineering majors. This year, the club has decided to welcome all majors and disciplines. Whether a 2-stage rocket to an astrobiology research project, SEDS welcomes everyone—even if you don’t have a lot of experience.
One of the club’s projects is a Space History project meant for display. They’re welcoming computer science, visual design, history, and many more students to work on an exhibit displaying a holographic model of the mission control center.

And lastly, if you love to write, plan events, make social media content, or want to get involved in campus life, HerCampus is the place for you. This club gives UCF women a place to empower themselves, build their skills, and stay connected to what’s happening around campus.
It cultivates a safe space for its members and pushes you to get out of your comfort zone, all while working with like-minded individuals. You don’t even have to be majoring in journalism to be a writer. If you have a voice, then it shall be heard!

There are hundreds of interesting clubs on campus, and these are only just a few. The main point is that these clubs help you connect with others and make new memories. College life is all about stepping out of your nest and exploring the world, and you should never hold back.
