With finals approaching and everyone around you feeling the stress, where do you actually go to study? Campus has amazing spots, but they can sometimes be too crowded. The Coho stays open later with special finals prices. The library has way too many people and not enough outlets. The 24-hour room starts bringing back memories of a high school locker room. SCC has a few charging ports for all types of devices but there’s always a struggle. So where does one go when you want a private place to study?

Try going to a local coffee shop. It will make studying more of a relaxing experience than a chore. Mishkas on 2nd street has the quiet, chill café vibe throughout the entire place. It’s well lit and has lots of organic and local selections to choose from. The Christmas décor lightens the mood of dreary studying.

Another one of my favorite places is Lazi Cow. They have ramen, tea, and even — ahem — alcoholic boba to give you the extra punch you need for studying. In my own experience, the staff is so sweet and are honestly the kindest people who genuinely ask if you like your order. There’s also a cow bench and a swing to sit on, so who needs a desk anymore?

If you want some food, Peet’s Coffee, Temple, and Crepeville will satisfy both your food needs and your study location. They have a bit of soft music playing, and good lighting that makes it so easy to get work done. There is also enough space to bring a few friends so that you can talk in a group setting without disturbing others.

And now for a secret spot: not a lot of people know about the hidden Starbucks in north Davis. It is pretty isolated, which makes it the perfect spot without too many people bustling in and out like a normal Starbucks. This location is far more private and intimate if you want to just study or rewind a bit without too many people around. It is kind of my favorite spot!

Good luck on your exams Aggies!

I'm 21 years old from Manteca California and majoring in international relations at University of California Davis. I'm aspiring to become a lawyer! I love Bhangra, family, friends and event planning and during dinner one night I decided with my best friends why not have a bhangra competition at UC Davis. Fun fact about me, I love to travel, and my immediate family is in 14 different countries.
