Throughout my life, I have met so many people who are incredibly smart, talented, and hardworking but constantly complain about their low self-worth and inability to accomplish their goals. It always surprises me when people who have so much potential are not able to see their own worth and ability. However, despite my constant reminders of how smart and able the people in my life are, I wish they were able to see and recognize their own potential. My mom used to tell me, “Believe in yourself and you’re halfway there.” Once you begin to believe in yourself and recognize all of the amazing things you are capable of, you can tackle tasks you never thought you could before and change your life forever.

I know that sometimes it can be difficult to want to wake up in the morning. I know that some days you feel like the world is against you. I know that it can feel like nothing is going right and that everything is going wrong, and it can be so discouraging to want to wake up every morning and do it all over again. But the fact that you chose to wake up this morning, get your butt out of bed, and do everything all over again proves that you are stronger and more capable than you can imagine. Because that is the hardest part. Just think about it. The hardest part is getting up and getting out there. If you have done that already, you have accomplished the most difficult task of your day.

It can become habitual to focus on all of the bad things that are happening to us. A bad grade, a rejection, or a broken friendship can loom over us and make us feel like our life is falling apart right before our eyes. I am not going to tell you that these things don’t matter or that they don’t exist. But I will tell you that you have the power to conquer them. While the bad things of today take up the majority of your thoughts, they won’t even cross your mind in the near future. You just have to get there. Think about a challenge or a hardship that you previously faced in your life. Think about how it consumed you and your thoughts, and how it made you feel like life could never be good again. And then think about how you felt once that challenge subsided. Think about the days, weeks, and months after when that challenge or hardship no longer held any power over you. Think about the moment you moved on and the moment things started getting better again. Soon, you will feel that moment of liberation again. It doesn’t matter how difficult the challenge seems right now. There will be a day that you move on from it, find the good that life has to offer you, and realize that happiness is made for you.

You have the potential to have a wonderful life. You are worthy of happiness, strength, friendship, and love. Once you begin to truly believe in yourself, you will soar. You will fall. You will experience challenges and hardships that may change your entire outlook on life- challenges that will consume you. But you will also rise. You will rise higher and higher every time you pick yourself up from a fall. No matter what happens, you are always worthy, strong, and capable. You are smart, you are talented, and there is a place for you in this world every single day.
