Studying isn’t always easy when you live with roommates or in a dorm. Sometimes you may just need a change of scenery to get those creative juices flowing for your next essay! Check out these study spots to give yourself a refresh on your normal study habits.

1. Temple Coffee

Temple Coffee is on Third Street in downtown Davis, and has a nice quiet atmosphere for getting some studying in. The coffee shop features a long table with stool seating, which is great for bringing a laptop or study materials. You can also order up some of their delicious drinks and baked goods while you’re at it, but make sure to bring everything fully charged because they do not have charging stations available.

2. Philz Coffee

Residing on Second Street, this is another great coffee shop for studying in and provides a decent amount of seating and workspace area. Philz also offers food beyond just baked goods, so a study break would be great here with a slice of avocado toast or a bagel. Because it is a popular spot, you may want to get there on the earlier side or risk taking your chances waiting for a spot to free up.

3. Mischka’s

Yet another cute bakery/coffee shop, Mischka’s is a great place to study just off campus at the north end of Second Street. Make sure to ask the cashier for WiFi, as each person gets a separate login ticket, or you will not be able to access it. Also, it’s a great spot for baked goods and drinks.

4. CoHo/Memorial Union

The CoHo makes for an obviously convenient choice for a study spot for a variety of reasons. The MU has a large amount of seating and outlets, while the marketplace and CoHo offer meal and snack options for a quick bite. The CoHo can get a bit crowded, but if you stay close you’ll snag a table relatively quickly. Both the the CoHo and MU are also great places to meet others for study groups or group projects as they’re on campus and easy to get to!

5. Arboretum

When the weather is nice, the arboretum makes a great study space, depending on what you’re looking for. The Redwood Grove on the south end has picnic tables, but sitting in the grass so long as the weather is nice always proves a great a choice. Just make sure to pre-download any documents you may need, as the arboretum does not have campus WiFi connection.

Keep these study spots in mind for next quarter, Aggies!
