The end of the semester is finally here, and instead of being excited like we thought we would be four weeks ago, we’ve realized that with the end of the term comes final exams!!

Don’t worry though, I’ve got you covered with a guide on exactly how to make it through the week with your sanity (or as much of it as we can save).

In the beginning you’ll feel like you have all the time in the world to study for your tests…

Until you realize you have an entire semester’s worth of readings to do…

You begin to envy your freinds that are morning people, how unfair that they get all those extra hours in the day!

When a friend in the class asks you for help…

And forget about studying in the library, or the coffee shop, or the study lounges. Where did all these people come from?!?!

Good luck studying at home too. Your roommate that finished her exams early is no help with keeping you focused.

She’ll convince you to watch an episode of her favorite show…

At first you’ll try to resist another episode…

Then it’ll be so good that you have to finish the entire season!

With hours wasted, you realize you really need to focus now.

But wait, there’s dishes in the sink! And laundry. And you can’t possible study on a cluttered desk!!

Once everything is spotless you can go back to studying for your exams. You put a small dent into your study guide, but you are nowhere near close to finishing it.

Your inbox is full of invitations for study group sessions, too bad you can’t stand anyone in the course.

Better to just stay home and study alone. Making the perfect study playlist will help keep you awake.

To make up for the lost weeks where you could have been studying, you just consume as much sugar and caffeine as possible to help keep you awake.

With all that new energy you finally start to get real work done, your term paper has at least hit the halfway mark!

To reward yourself you decide to take a power nap.

After a 4 hour power nap you’re suddenly starving, so you eat everything within eyesight.

The night before the exam you try to stay up as late as possible, forcing as much knowledge into your brain as possible.

Don’t forget the ceremonial Facebook post about how tired/stressed you are.

By some time during the night you just quit. Either you have completely given up or you feel as if you’re prepared, you’re not totally sure which.

You enjoy the good three hours of sleep you have.

Your outfit the morning of your exam consists of leggings, a hoodie and two day old hair.

Once the test is in your hand somehow all the answers seem to rush into your brain. (Or not?)

You turn your exam in, walk home exhausted and slip into something more comfortable….like a coma. Because guess who’s done with exams??

And we can’t forget what happens to all that information you just spent days cramming into your mind…

Best part of it all, we get to go through this again next semester!

Rubi Mancilla is a fourth year studying Psychology and Women's Studies at UC Riverside. She decided to double major because at the time it seemed like she was getting two degrees for the price of one, the ultimate sale! She writes about relationships, how to spend a Friday night at home, being a confused twenty-something and never having enough money in her bank account. Her column 'Midweek Study Break' is published every Wednesday but you can read more of her work in her new project, When Life Gives You Rubi. Until Disney decides to make a movie about how hard it is to be a recent (single) college graduate, we can try to figure out this whole being a grown up thing together.
