THESE FILMS ARE GOING TO MAKE YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH NATURE

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UC Berkeley chapter.

After hours of staring at our laptop screens, there is nothing more satisfying than seeing that checkmark next to “Submitted Assignment.” Unfortunately, student life is not all glitz and glamor. Sometimes we spend days confined to the same room to finish an assignment, with red eyes and aching backs. In times like these, all we want to do is have a change of scenery.  Online movie getaways can be a refreshing way to clear the mind of homework and stress.

Here are five movies with seriously fantastic views that will transport us to ethereal places:

1. Call Me by Your Name

Not only is Timothée Chalamet serving major eye candy in this film, but also the scenery is gorgeous.  Its cinematography features Northern Italy’s prettiest sights in summer, with grottos, lakes, coastlines, and vast plains. In the words of the film: “Nature has cunning ways of finding our weakest spot.”

2. Practical Magic

This fantastical 1998 classic rom-com transports viewers to the California coast.  It tells the tale of two witch sisters battling a generational curse that prohibits any woman in their family from falling in love. With a quaint house on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, you’re not going to want to miss this cottage core film.

3. Monte Carlo

This has to be the most underrated movie of the century. On a graduation trip, three young women having a lackluster vacation in Paris are mistaken for British heiresses and end up in Monte Carlo. With America’s sweetheart, Selena Gomez, and XOXO Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester, the movie is a geographical dream showcasing Monaco’s wealthy ocean life and evergreen horse racing fields.

4. The Sound of Music

You thought I was going to forget this masterpiece? Come on, the opening scene with queen Julie Andrews singing on an Austrian hilltop is a classic. Crystal ponds, grassy hilltops, and stunning Austrian architecture are accompanied by beautiful Rodgers and Hammerstein songs. It’s music to my ears.

5. Finding Dory

The Pixar animators put their all into creating detailed portrayals of the ocean and sea creatures in this film. The animation is pristine and the way it replicates water is unreal. Not to mention, the number of sea creatures turns your tv into an aquarium.

Grab some popcorn, sit back, and watch beautiful scenery in the comfort of your own home.
