It’s that time of year that they meet again. The days are getting shorter and the nights are getting longer. The more she thinks about the good times before she met you, the more she wants you to get out of her life and never come back.

Before your arrival, she tries to prepare herself for the undivided attention you’re going to demand of her and her body. She cries at the thought that her friends will see less of her. Not to mention, her family will question her and ask if she’s okay. She cracks a smile and replies “everything’s fine” when it’s not because it’s her burden to carry, not theirs.

The burden of not sleeping, overeating, and feeling empty inside is heavy. So heavy that the strongest person in the world would have a hard time lifting it up. Seasonal depression drains her of her energy and she dreads its yearly visits.

She would do anything to get away from the nightmare that takes over her life. She often daydreams about living on another planet to get away from it all, in a galaxy among all the beautiful stars to remind herself that depression can’t stop her from conquering the world.
