In the corner of the lower floor of the AMS Student Nest resides On The Fringe Hair Design, a salon for the campus and community run by a strong team of stylists.
On Monday, April 18th, On The Fringe teamed up with Her Campus at UBC to host “Haircuts with Her Campus!”, a fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society. 12 individuals donated over 120″ of hair (quadruple that if you count each lock of hair)! We also raised around $250 through bake sale and nail painting donations, as well as donations for styles and general haircuts for those who didn’t donate their hair, in which cases free cuts were provided.

However, if you are looking to have your hair done – rather than doing the hair of others – you can swing by On The Fringe at the following times during the week to make an appointment:
- Mondays: Closed
- Tuesday/Wednesday: 10:00am – 7:00pm
- Thursday/Friday: 10:00am – 8:00pm
- Saturday: 10:00am – 5:00pm
- Sundays: Closed

HC at UBC is grateful for OTF donating their time for Haircuts with Her Campus!, especially because this salon is already doing good in their community at different times throughout the year. In addition to our event this year, OTF hosted their annual Cuts for Cancer event, which has raised $90,000 in hair and $45,000 in cash to date for the Canadian Cancer Society. Not only this, but the OTF team has, since 2005, donated a portion of their earnings to Chiera Vanessa from Colombia so that she may have greater access to proper education. What a wonderful community of individuals we have here at UBC Vancouver doling out style and smiles from campus to Colombia!
