Cassandra and Theatre at UBC
What made you decide to get involved with theatre? I’ve always loved performing. There was never really a decision to get into theatre, I just always knew I wanted to be on stage. My high school drama program was filled with people who were talented, inspiring, and just as quirky as I was. So theatre became a sort of home for me as well as something I loved to do. I started considering it as a possible career choice in my senior year of high school after we did A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Who are the actors that you look up to? Kristin Chenoweth, Jennifer Lines, and of course Meryl Streep.
What are some of your favourite theatrical productions, and why? I absolutely loved the 2010 Bard on the Beach production of Much Ado About Nothing. It was the show that made me fall in love with Shakespeare. Aside from that, the 25th anniversary tour of Les Mis was fantastic. Every aspect of the show exceeded my expectations and I was blown away by the music, cast, and production value.
Any upcoming projects? I’m in Theatre at UBC’s upcoming musical Triumph of Love, which opens March 19 and runs until April 4.
