Welcome to UBC finals 2014! If you are not a coffee drinker by now then just wait a couple more days. If you are then the UBC Her Campus staff have put together a list of some of the more hidden cafes on campus that are sure to be ideal to camp out at while you cry uncontrollably in public study!

Only U Café

Located right in the village, ‘Only U Café’ has the best mix of food and coffee on our list. The Café boasts extraordinary coffee, brunch and espresso, making it a pretty popular spot on weekends.  If you can get a table, try not to take too long as it’s pretty busy.  A regular cup of joe is only $1.75, and is only steps from where the 99 stops at Alison Road.

Great Dane Coffee

It took some of us till third year to figure out where this café was located. By following the signs just outside Allard Hall, you can find Great Dane right behind Walter Gage Towers.  The Dane has a bit more expensive coffee at $2.00, but it is high quality. The baked goods are perfection, and fresh every day. The place is a bit crowded, but if you are there on a sunny day the outside fireplace and patio offer more than enough room to spread your books everywhere.

Café Perugia

This café is located on Agronomy Road and Health Sciences and is run by UBC food services. There is a ton of study tables available, and coffee goes for $1.85 per cup.

The Beanery

Unless you live in Fairview you probably haven’t heard about The Beanery. Located in Fairview, The Beanery has a great mix of good quality coffee ($1.47) and baked goods. You must try the cinnamon buns! They are unreal. Complete with comfy chairs and a great atmosphere, this place is ideal for studying for your exams.

Bean Around the World

Located by Thunderbird and the Forestry building, next to the Old Barn Community Center Bean around the World is an ideal café on campus.  Coffee is a bit more expensive at $2.35 a cup, but it is well worth it.  The menu has a great selection of sandwiches and other baked goods. Fun fact: it also has liquor license  if the studying isn’t very productive…

The Corner Store

Though this isn’t a café, the corner store makes the list due to the ideal price for its coffee.  For only $1.00 you can get any size cup of coffee to go. If you take the stairway up, you can find the new book store study place, which is ideal for this time of year.

Seedlings

Located in the Thea Koerner Graduate Centre just on West Mall, Seedlings is UBC’s all organic,  vegan and vegetarian café on campus.  Seedlings also boasts the cheapest coffee on campus at $.75 per cup, given you bring your own mug!  The place has a great vibe to it with large windows and a fair amount of space making it ideal for studying.

Good luck studying, UBC! We hope you find a good place to plunk down your books and kick butt on all those finals and essays!
