It’s November! Your first round of midterms have probably ended, and now you’re dealing with the second round. To top it off, finals are only a month away (cue the screaming). Chances are, you’re pretty stressed out. We all have different ways to take the stress away, whether it be sleeping the whole day or going out with your best friends. These are just a few of the ways I like to de-stress – Hope it helps!

1. Hanging out with friends

Sometimes you just need someone to talk to or to go somewhere exciting with. Whether it be a night out on the town with your squad or a dinner at home with your bff, having friends to let loose with can be just what you needed.

2. Exercise/walks

Exercise releases endorphins, which make you feel happier. Take a walk outside or go to the gym and pump some iron – your body and mind will thank you.

3. Treat yourself to something delicious

No, I’m not saying you should binge-eat your stress away, but It’s nice to treat yourself once in awhile. Grab a meal at your favourite restaurant or satisfy that ice cream craving you’ve been holding in. Take a deep breath and enjoy some good food.

4. Get some quality sleep

With all the deadlines and all nighters, your body and mind need some proper, quality sleep. Put your phone away from your reach, get into some comfy clothes, and just sleep. You’ll wake up feeling energized and hopefully a little less stressed.

Stress gets to all of us and can really affect our physical and mental health. I urge you to take a deep breath and try out different ways to de-stress. And if you’re dealing with extreme stress, please seek help and/or talk to a professional. Stay healthy & happy, HC UBC!
