Over the years UAB has consistently been ranked as the most diverse university in the state of Alabama.
The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion has been working hard to create an environment that is inclusive, respectful and fair. One of their newest introductions is an open discussion event for black women on campus. The purpose of this program is to allow black women on campus to have a safe place to discuss their feelings and experiences. The discussion will be facilitated by female counselors from UAB Student Counseling Services. There will be four meeting dates offered, one per month. Students who are interested are not obligated to attend all four meetings, however; it is an option.
UAB Student Counseling Services will also be offering an equivalent discussion for black men on campus called “Fellas Let’s Go There.”
