5 Reasons Cyber Monday is Better Than Black Friday

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Wyoming chapter.

Whether you’re about it or not, Black Friday happens every year, where not even 24 hours after counting your blessings, everyone is off fighting for items in stores that are on sale for a limited time only. In recent years though, Cyber Monday-which is basically Black Friday but all online- has become a huge deal and it’s honestly way better than going out in the wee hours of the morning to shop around for limited amounts of items you *probably* don’t need. Here’s 5 reasons why Cyber Monday is better than Black Friday.

1) There are no crowds

Seriously nothing makes me more anxious on Black Friday than the large crowds of people with almost no room to move. I understand the deals are cool, but are they *that* worth it? I hate large amounts of people in one space, so at least with Cyber Monday, you can shop alone, or with family, but the entire population of your town won’t be there.

2) You can shop at literally ANY store you want, no travel required

I mean, since you don’t have to leave your couch and you have the world at your fingertips, any store is fair game for Cyber Monday, as long as they have a website. So basically, if you live far away from a Forever 21 like us Laramigos, you can just shop online and get plenty of sales without having to travel anywhere. Also, if you know what you want, you can just search it, rather than fighting through tons of people to find what you’re looking for, or getting to the store to find they have nothing left in your size.

3) Free shipping is likely, which is always amazing

Free shipping is truly a blessing and basically the best part about Cyber Monday. If you don’t have to pay shipping, it’s almost the same as going to the store to buy it yourself, but without any of the typical Black Friday hassles. Amazing.

4) You can shop anywhere

Don’t wanna leave your couch? Are you in class that day? Who cares! If you have any form of technology and your credit card, you can easily participate in Cyber Monday. That’s the beauty of it all. You don’t have to leave the comfort of your home to shop, nor do you have to show up somewhere to get all the deals. Hello, convenience.

5) You don’t have to wake up early to wait in line

This is pretty self explanatory but yeah, sleeping in, staying in your pajamas and laying on the couch to participate in sales events is the best way to do it. I’d rather that than waiting in the freezing cold at 1 AM to fight for a TV, when I could just hit Cyber Monday, warm in my bed with some TV on in the background. Doesn’t that sound way more relaxing?
