Midterms. The time when college students stress the most before finals come around. You either have nothing assigned to do, or all of your teachers decide to assign five page papers and research projects in the same week. Whether you’re panicking on which one to start or relaxing because you finished your only one, here are five shows on Netflix and/or Hulu that you should watch to neglect your responsibilities. These are in no particular order, as I can’t show favoritism.

1) The Office (U.S.)

One of the most talked about shows in recent television history is The Office. Don’t waste your time with the U.K. version, instead, spend your study days watching the hilarity that ensues in Michael Scott’s office building. This show, although now over, has stayed relevant, due to its humor and popularity. I recommend stopping after season six, personally, but if you’ve never seen it before, you should watch all nine! There have been rumors about a reboot/reunion with the original cast, so hopefully they are true. Find it on Netflix!

2) It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia

A show that has truly stood the test of time, Always Sunny still gets away with the crude humor of years past that wouldn’t fly today without the notoriety. Famous for its crass and lewd ways, it has run for 13 seasons and I don’t think it will stop anytime soon. If you love whacky Charlie Day, you need to see him do his thing in the show that brought him to stardom. This show used to be on Netflix, but if you have Hulu, you’re in luck!

3) Scrubs

If you want to watch a show about doctors but Grey’s Anatomy makes you sad, check out Scrubs! This show is a humorous take on all of the medical shows out there. There are some moments where you need to pull out your tissue box, but all in all, it’s a lighthearted and funny show. It has nine seasons, but if you don’t want to hate the show, do NOT watch the last season. It’s horrendous how they finished it. Luckily, you can find it on both Hulu and Netflix.

4) Shameless

If you can handle crude humor, nudity, drugs, tough situations, and death, Shameless is the show for you. Likely one of the most interesting shows out there, it takes on many tough and taboo topics while remaining funny and gripping. There are no seasons that you need to skip here, it is truly an awesome show. The ninth season is premiering now on Showtime, but if you don’t have cable, you can catch up on the other eight on Netflix and Hulu.

5) American Horror Story

This show has been quite controversial in recent years. The sixth season “Roanoke,” is regarded as one of the worst that they created. The next season “Cult” features the 2016 election, but as more of a background theme than the main focus. If you enjoy being scared, scary imagery, and dark situations, this show is a pleaser. It is also important to note that if you haven’t seen it before, AHS does casting very different. The seasons do not follow each other in terms of characters, timelines, or events. Some actors will play two different characters in the same season and they will be completely different characters in the next season. Some do connect, however, but you need to watch it to find out. You can watch seven out of its eight seasons on Netflix and Hulu.

I hope you decide to check out some of these shows and enjoy them instead of doing your midterms!
