During the two years I’ve been involved with Her Campus at UVic, I’ve made so many wonderful memories with the lovely team. I couldn’t resist doing a farewell article. Here are some of the countless reasons why I love and will miss being in Her Campus when I graduate!

1. I’ll miss getting the chance to write whatever I want

Seriously, I don’t know what organization besides Her Campus would allow me to write about whatever I want, from fashion and makeup, to controversial films, to an article about visiting a university that teaches in sign language. I’ll miss having the freedom to express whatever I’m thinking. Through being involved with Her Campus, I have developed a strong passion for writing and I hope to continue with my writing as a potential career. Who knows? Maybe I’ll write a bestselling novel in the near future! If that happens, I’ll give credit to Her Campus for encouraging my passion for writing for sure.

2. Getting the chance to know other teammates better at socials

I always loved going to every single social ever since I joined Her Campus! Baking parties, watching Disney movies, going out for brunch (mimosas are the best breakfast food ever), etc. But I think my absolute favorite social I had with Her Campus so far was when we went out to volunteer with a local organization! We sorted through bags full of donated clothes and shoes all morning. To me, it felt really good to give back to the community and to know that we were making someone’s day brighter. Plus, I love activities that bond people, and I think going to the socials made me feel closer to other teammates. I’ll be sad not to do that anymore, but I might try to crash a social or two in the next couple of years.

3. Every single meeting, ever

Seriously, every meeting was basically a break from the endless hours of studying and stressing over tests and homework. Plus, having the opportunity to see people you like and talk about stuff you all want to do is always fun. Honestly, we just joke around for 85% of our meetings and it’s honestly so fun. I always got excited for the meetings, even if we just ended up talking about ideas for articles, because they were an escape from all the stress going on in my life.

4. All the swag

Honestly, the swag is pretty sweet. Just look at our shirts!

5. All the kind and lovely people

Ever since I became involved with Her Campus, I have made new friends and bonded with an amazing group of people that is dedicated to supporting women and each other! When I joined Her Campus, I was first really shy and I stuck close to the only friend I knew in the team when she interpreted for me at meetings and socials. But by the end of the semester, I had made a couple of friends, and I felt more comfortable and loved in this organization. Now? I would say that I have made some wonderful friends that I will have unforgettable bonds with.

6. Everything about Her Campus, really

Honestly, I have changed into a more assertive, outgoing and a better person. I wouldn’t have expected to be involved with Her Campus so much when I started, but I have a huge love for Her Campus now. I feel that I have grown into a more assertive woman because of Her Campus, and I’m so proud to be part of an incredible organization that supports women all over the world.

I’ll be so sad about the fact that I won’t be around anymore for Her Campus, but I’m so grateful that I got the chance to join, and I don’t regret my own decision to be involved. I know that Her Campus is an amazing organization and everybody should join if they want new friends, networking opportunities, or to learn relevant skills for the professional world after university!

Who knows? Maybe Her Campus will be in my future still, and maybe I’ll even work with the national Her Campus organization!
