2026 is coming up really quickly, so I’ve started to think about what I want to read next year. Every year, I come up with reading goals for the year. Here were mine for 2025:

Read 12 classics
Read at least three 5 star reads
Have 75%+ of reads be 3 stars +
Have an average rating of above 3 stars
Read at least 5 books published in 2025
Read at least 2 books each month
Read at least 80% of books bought this year
Read at least 70% of my TBR for the year
Finish all of Kazuo Ishiguro’s works
Read 15 already owned books
My 2025 Reading Goals

I get pretty serious about it, because I love reading and I do so much of it. My goals for 2025 were very number-heavy, concentrating on my rating. I don’t think I’ll read all of Ishiguro’s works this year, sadly, but I will finish up all of Austen’s, which is nice!

what are my 2026 reading goals?

Especially in this political climate, I’ve decided I want my reading to be more intentional. I want to read books that are in genres I like, on topics I like, and also books that aren’t just based in the West. I started tracking where my books were set/published this year, with 42 of my books being set in the US/UK, and 22 out of it. I want that number to be different this year, with more books outside of the West. I also want to read a range of classics and books I already own, as well as course books.

Here are my current planned goals for 2026:

Read 15 classics
Read at least 20 books set outside the US/UK
Read at least three 5 star reads
Have 75%+ of reads be 3 stars +
Have an average rating of above 3 stars
Read at least 2 books each month
Read at least 80% of books bought this year
Read at least 70% of my TBR for the year
Read 12 already owned books
Finish all of Kazuo Ishiguro’s works
Finish all of Emily St. John Mandel’s works
Finish Agatha Christie’s Poirot series
Write a review for every book I read
Read the 2026 Int. Booker Prize shortlist
Read the 2026 Booker Prize shortlist
