New Year’s Resolutions You Forgot About

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Penn chapter.

It’s easy to make New Year’s resolutions, but it’s an entirely different thing to keep them. Just as it’s difficult to give up sweets or watching Pretty Little Liars for lent, it’s hard to reach your goal weight or get straight A’s when January seems like an eternity ago come March. This year, I tried to be realistic about my resolutions. I went with the more emotional and introspective resolutions rather than the classic “Lose 10 pounds!” or “No more soda!” Here are a few important 2013 resolutions that are often forgotten about:

  • Love and be loved.
  • Treat your body as a temple.
  • Think about what you have instead of what you don’t have.
  • Do what makes you happy.
  • Be present wherever you are.
  • Remember that a simple smile or “How are you?” can make a big difference to someone else.
  • Watch a ton of Girls, Pretty Little Liars, Grey’s Anatomy and The Bachelor – everyone deserves a break from time to time!

Cheers to starting off the 2013 without putting a ton of pressure on yourself and to being happy and healthy! (And to actually keeping your resolutions this year!)
