Start the New Year Right with HASfit!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Ottawa chapter.

It’s the middle of January and, if you’re anything like me, the motivation and drive that you had when you first came up with your New Year’s resolution January 1st is slowly starting to diminish. Sure the first week is all rainbows and butterflies but when school begins the following week, things start to get a little crazy. Juggling everything that comes with being a university student is difficult which is why I wanted to share a bit about my favourite fitness duo to help you feel more confident about reaching your 2018 fitness goal!

Last September I happened upon heart and soul fitness (HASfit for short). I had watched a few fitness videos on YouTube but nothing like these. Nonetheless, here’s a bit about my favourite fitness duo Coach Kozak and Claudia from HASfit that’ll hopefully help you enjoy yourself as you work toward your 2018 fitness goal!

About HASfit

HASfit’s a free fitness service that provides at-home workouts, gym workouts, monthly fitness routines, healthy recipes and meal plans. Lead by Coach Joshua Kozak and his wife Claudia, HASfit’s goal is to empower people to become their fittest self.

The YouTube Channel

I first discovered HASfit through their YouTube channel while searching for new workouts to inspire me to exercise more frequently. Personally, I find HASfit particularly awesome simply because of the general vibe that they give off during their YouTube videos. They’re videos are filled with encouragement and light conversation which are great distractions from the fact that you’re practically dying at the hands of exercise.

My favourite feature on HASfit’s YouTube channel is their “Workouts by Body Part” playlist. In this playlist you can choose to see workouts from any muscle group that you want to work.

Their YouTube channel also has an abundance of playlists which feature different workout goals. For example, there’s playlists for HIIT (high intensity interval training) geared towards losing fat, kettlebell workouts, gym workouts and workouts for building muscle strength.

It’s important to remember that fitness is only one side of the coin. You can workout one hour a day everyday but, if you’re not eating well, you’ll never reach your peak physical potential. On their YouTube channel, HASfit also has numerous playlists where they make healthy dinners, breakfasts, snacks, protein shakes and even desserts!

The Website

Like their YouTube channel, HASfit’s website is filled with a lot of great content.

Arguably one of the best features on the website is HASfit’s workout programs. These programs, which range from 30 to 90 days long, each have their own general goal and are meticulously planned out to include suitable workouts and rest days. Here’s an example of HASfit’s 30 day low impact beginner workout program.

If you’re not into watching cooking videos, HASfit’s website also boasts a large array of healthy eating recipes. Ranging from high protein to vegetarian/vegan, the clean eating recipes on HASfit’s website are quick, easy and fun to make!

My Favourite Workouts!

I’ve always really enjoyed routine which lead me to make up a workout circuit where I workout my abs/obliques on day one, biceps/triceps on day two, legs/gluts on day three and shoulders on day four. While I’ve tried countless workouts on their YouTube channel here are my personal favourites!

Abs/Obliques – 7 Min Flat Stomach Workout, 10 Min Oblique Workout

Biceps/Triceps – 25 Min Arm Workout

Legs – 17 Min Leg Workout

Shoulders – 20 Min Shoulder Workout

I hope everyone was able to take a bit from this article. Keep up the hard work and you’ll reach your fitness goals in no time!
