It’s the same routine: telling yourself over and over again how productive you’re going to be over break. That internship you’ve been putting off the application for since September? It’ll get done- at least that’s what you think. Yet, we all end up doing the same thing over break: Netflix, leftovers, and more Netflix.

Here’s a compiled list of all the things you promised you’d get done over break (but actually won’t even think about…):

1. Applications

Internships, study abroad, job applications, you name it. There are so many applications that need to be completed by a winter deadline, and you SWORE you’d get them done when you don’t have school work to do. Yet, winter break comes to an end, and Netflix was prioritized yet again.

2. Spending Time with Hometown Friends

You always say that winter break will be the time to catch up with those friends from high school that you haven’t seen in months, or years. Intentions are great, but it always comes down to having to get out of bed, and let’s face it- that’s not going to happen.

3. Eating Healthy

Winter break would be a great time to start a new diet plan or healthy eating regime. But, with holiday parties and cooking, it’s absolutely impossible to try and eat healthy- why do we even pretend?

4. Catching up on Sleep

With all the Netflix that needs to be watched over break and the constant family visits and holiday parties, the sleep that you promised you’d get over break just seems to slip away.

5. Getting Ahead for Next Semester?

Haha, nice thought. Everyone knew you were kidding the minute you brought this up.

Casey is a freshman at the University of Michigan. If she's not studying or working for her clubs, you can usually find her trying new restaurants with her friends, running through the Arb, or lying in bed watching One Tree Hill for the 4th time.
