16 Reasons You Should Definitely Not Go to UMass Amherst

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mass Amherst chapter.

For some strange reason there’s a lot of fuss about the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Personally, I don’t understand the hype. I mean, what is there about UMass Amherst that makes it so awesome? Please, somebody clue me in.

1. It’s not like it has a beautiful campus.

Ugh, completely hideous.

2. And there’s definitely no way to get around the huge campus without a car.

Hope you like walking everywhere.

3. In fact, there’s nowhere that you would even want to go off campus.

Talk about a ghost town.

4. There’s almost no choices when it comes to majors.

I bet you can’t design your own major.

5. You don’t even have the option to interact with students from other colleges.

Good luck trying to take a class at Smith.

6. If you’re tyring to study, have fun finding a space in the library.

Clearly there aren’t enough floors.

7. And if you get hungry, forget about it. There’s no convenient place to grab some food.

Like I said, no food to be found.

8. Don’t expect to eat anywhere else on campus either.

Yep, you’re definitely going to starve.

9. If you thought that was terrible wait until you see the dorms.

Good luck with housing. There’s only one area on campus.

10. If you’re interested in working out just know that the Rec Center is in awful condition.

Just look at that outdated building. Um, ew.

11. Getting involved on campus is nearly impossible.

There’s no Activities Expo to help you choose.

12. UMass doesn’t offer any Greek life either.

There goes your chance to join a sorority.

13. If sports are your thing then I’ve got bad news: UMass doesn’t offer any.

Hope you don’t enjoy showing school spirit.

14. Don’t expect any influential guest speakers.

I know what you’re thinking, but that’s definitely not Laverne Cox.

15. That’s probably because the students are so apathetic.

See? No one cares about anything here. Absolutely no sense of community.

16. Like I said, super unfriendly.

Don’t expect any help from these people.

Honestly, do yourself a favor and choose anywhere but UMass Amherst.

Look! Even the wildlife is hostile. Is this really the kind of place you want to attend?
