Lululemon Leggings Review – Worth the Money?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Iowa chapter.

Ah, Lululemon leggings… it seems like every female college student owns at least one pair, but are they really worth it? I had heard a lot about their high quality and about their equally high prices. At first, I thought it was ridiculous to spend $100 on a basic pair of leggings, but I started thinking that given how often I wear leggings and thought it might as well be worth it to invest in something with a little higher-quality. After a sequence of leggings that only lasted a few months before they got too stretched or worn out for me to wear, I finally gave in and bought myself a pair.

(My first pair of Lululemon leggings – the 28″ Align Pant in the Luon fabric. They are very comfortable and soft, and overall a good basic pair of black leggings. My one complaint about these is that fuzz from my sweatshirts and sweaters sticks to them very easily. $98.)

I thought I might regret spending $100 on leggings, but as soon as I wore them for the first time and they still fit perfectly by the end of the day, I knew they were worth the money. No bagging at the knees, no falling down at the waist or sliding up at the ankles. They were the only leggings I wanted to wear, which is why, a few weeks later, I went back to buy another pair.

(My second pair, also the 28″ Align Pant but in the Luxtreme fabric instead. These fit the same as the first pair, but the fabric is a little thinner and more athletic-feeling. They’re much less “sticky” than the first pair. $98.)

And because I have no self-control, and I just couldn’t decide between my two favorite pairs I tried on, I ended up getting them both. I’m sure my bank account wasn’t happy about my purchase, but I definitely was!

(My third pair – the 28″ Speed-Up Tight. Unfortunately, this specific pattern isn’t available online anymore but there were a few pairs left at the store near me. What I love about these leggings is how flattering they are and how I can wear them with a lot of different things even though they’re not a basic black. $108.)

One of the things I love about Lululemon leggings is that their fabric works for working out as well as everyday wear. I can wear them with a sweatshirt to class in the morning, and then throw on a tank top when I head to the gym in the afternoon. Something that I’ve learned recently is that when it comes to basics, it often really is worth it to splurge on something a little higher-quality. These leggings are definitely on the expensive side, but if you’re looking for a really nice pair of leggings that will last you a long time, I would definitely recommend investing in a pair (or three!).
