6 Places To Get Your Apartment Decor

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Iowa chapter.

It’s never to early to make a Pinterest board of must-haves for decorating your room in next year’s apartment, especially for freshmen who are counting down the days to gtfo of the dorms. While it is exciting to move into a new place and be able to start fresh with decorating, it can be stressful looking for just the right décor of the perfect room you are envisioning. Here are a few places online and in-store worthy to check out that are perfect for college girls.

1. Urban Outfitters

Urban Outfitter’s apartment collection is the Beyoncé of apartment collections. UO is an established brand amongst college girls because of their verstile clothing for any girls style, and this is mirrored in their apartment collection. From twinkling lights and wall art, to “boho” inspired bedding and tapestries, to printed candles and funky pillows, Urban has it all. If you want to splurge on unnecessary things, you better check out their “Party” section for rad items that will make your apartment the best pregame spot.

2. American Eagle Outfitters

AEO recently launched an online apartment collection that reflects their clothing brand. The style of the bedding and room decor is simple and functional, yet stylish and sophisticated. While the selection is limited, what they have is totally worth checking out. And since their apartment shop is relatively new, chances are you’ll have unique stuff no one else has.

3. Target

Target is not just another department store with boring and out of style room décor. Instead, it boasts a wide variety of trendy bedding and room decor at an affordable price. It’s a one stop shop with everything you need to decorate your room and more (think laundry baskets, fans, organizer drawers, area rugs, etc.).

4. Nordstrom

Believe it or not, Nordstrom isn’t just a place to splurge your paycheck at for new clothes. It has a killer home department that will have you “pinning” like crazy. Although it is on the pricier side, it has quality bedding and room décor that will make your room feel like your home away from home.

5. Dormify

Don’t let the name fool you… Dormify’s inventory can be used for your apartment, too! It’s simplistic, modern and preppy style allows you to creatively mix and match different items for a clean cut room. Plus, the online retailer has a lot of apartment neccesities that you may have not considered like stick-ons for pictures of your hometown best friends to hang on your wall and organization accessories!

6. Society6

Love supporting independent artists? Check out Society6 for a wide selection of bedding, tapestries and wall art made and designed by artists. There are pages and pages of different patterns, images, and quotes to check out.

Summer goes by fast, and before you know it you’ll be moving into your new apartment!
