Your Gym Bag Must Haves

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

When I bought my first gym bag, I didn’t realize how much it would change my workouts for me. If you’re interested in packing the proper things needed to kick butt at the gym, then this is the list for you.

Hair Ties

Imagine you are hype for a workout, you set down your bag and you reach for your wrist to grab your hair tie. You suddently realize you didn’t have a hair tie and don’t want to walk all the way back to your room for one. You can easily solve this probably by bringing hair ties with you so you can always kill your workout.

Deodorant

Sometimes, you just forget to put on deodorant before you workout, or you’re a busy girl and gotta blast somewhere after the gym.

Hand Sanitizer

Everyone is sharing and touching the equipment, just think about all the people that touched the same equipment as you. It’s gross.

Baby Wipes

If you’re not going to shower at the gym or don’t have time to go home and shower, baby wipes are a great way to clean the sweat off of your face and body.

Dry Shampoo

Your hair is going to get all sweaty and oily after an intense workout, plus, it adds volume, smells good and makes your hair look thicc.

Body Spray

I don’t know about you, but I hate it when I enter the weight room and it just smells like sweat, or when someone walks by and you can smell their body odor. It’s hard to concentrate. Having a little bit of perfume to spray on your wrist or your neck to smell makes humid, sweat-scented rooms a little more bearable.

Resistance Bands

Resistance bands are crucial for every workout to warm up and stretch. You can even incorporate them into your workouts or have a workout using only resistance bands. They’re versatile and easy to bring along while traveling.

Ankle Strap

If you don’t like bouncing around the gym, ankle straps for cable machines are great to bring so that you can perform a variety of leg workouts on one machine. You can do a ton of isolation exercises that are essential for building a booty.

Barbell Pad

If you’ve ever used a smith machine or a barbell you might have felt some discomfort from putting the bar on your back, barbell pads help with by providing a cushion. You can do squats, good mornings, and hip thrusts with no more pain and all of the gains.

Water Bottle

If you don’t go to the gym with a water bottle, good luck.

Headphones

Let’s face it: the gym doesn’t always play the best music. Bumping to your own music hypes you up and makes you feel motivated to kill your workout. I personally like wireless headphones so you don’t have to get tangled up in any wires.

Gym Bag

You can’t carry all of this without a gym bag, a small duffle bag with pockets is typically the most popular, or drawstring bags. I personally like duffle bags so I can keep everything separated and organized.
