Reviewing The Newest Smoothie Bowl Spot: Nautical Bowls!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

If you haven’t heard already, there’s another new smoothie bowl hot spot in town! Nautical Bowls opened in Storrs Center this past January and has been the perfect new addition to the University of Connecticut area. If you’re looking for an honest review from a smoothie bowl lover like myself, you have come to the right place.

overview

To give some background, Nautical Bowls is a chain acai bowl shop that serves delicious and healthy superfood bowls to help fuel an active lifestyle. Made with organic and all-natural ingredients, you’ll be feeling fulfilled in the best way. Some of their core values as a company and community are joyful passion, fearless living, and a healthy life.

There are a variety of options to choose from, and each bowl is packed with nutrients and essential vitamins. On top of this, their products are organic, gluten-free, dairy-free, and soy-free! Regardless of dietary restrictions, there is something there for everyone. There are tons of pre-made bowl choices to choose from, with bases like acai, pitaya, mango, coconut, chia, blue majik, cacao, and more! Along with smoothie bowls, they also have regular smoothies and oatmeal bowls! One of the best things about Nautical Bowls is that you can customize your bowl with as many bases and toppings as you want to make it your own. Another thing I love about Nautical bowls is that they have three sizes to choose from, so you can choose if you want just a quick bite or a filling meal!

Since I live about a minute away from the Nautical Bowl location, of course I had to try it right when it opened. I had walked by their location prior to opening countless times, and I was so excited to finally try it. With limited places for a good smoothie in Storrs, I was ecstatic about this new addition, especially because it is basically in my backyard!

I have been back to Nautical Bowls about four times since my first visit, and I have tried out a few different bowls. The first one I tried was the Nauti Bowl, which is their classic acai/pitaya bowl. The peanut butter is so delicious and they always give a hefty amount! I loved this bowl, but the next time I went I wanted to create my own. I decided to try the mango and blue majik bases. The blue majik was so refreshing and tasted like pineapple and coconut, and is also a flavor very unique to their store. If I had to choose, I think my favorite base would probably be the pitaya right now. Overall, every bowl I’ve had has been extremely satisfying.

A few of the times I decided to order in advance and pick up my bowl, and I signed up for rewards. I was able to get a free bowl, and there are a ton of other perks to having an account!

While I’ve always been a very loyal customer of Playa Bowls, I have to say that in my personal opinion, Nautical Bowls are just as delicious. For those who are hesitant to try a new place for fear of not liking it, you’ll never know unless you try it! It could maybe just be your new favorite spot in Storrs Center.

Conclusion

My overall rating of Nautical Bowls is 9.5/10, and I’ve had no complaints! If you haven’t been to Nautical Bowls yet, this is your sign to try it! If you want to see more of their exciting promotions, follow @nauticalbowlsstorrs on Instagram!
