Rare Beauty: More Than Just Selena Gomez’s Makeup Brand

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

Selena Gomez’s makeup line, known as Rare Beauty, has been the latest craze in the makeup industry. Though this impressive company is now three years old, the excitement that surrounds this brand continues to grow from when it first launched.

A true queen. Look at her!

When you go to Sephora and pick up Selena’s bestseller liquid blush, there is no doubt that you’re extremely excited to unpack the box and give it a try. What you may not know is that this brand aims to do more than just provide us with beautiful makeup and a successful trip to Sephora.

“Being Rare is about being comfortable with yourself. I’ve stopped trying to be perfect. I just want to be me” -Selena Gomez

Selena explains that she believes Rare Beauty can make a positive impact, as we each grow to stop comparing ourselves to others and embrace what makes us all special and unique in our own ways.

As their website mentions, Rare Beauty’s goal is to celebrate everyone’s uniqueness, and break down unrealistic standards of perfection. Their mission is to create a safe and welcoming space that supports the mental well being of all individuals regardless of their differences.

Founded alongside Selena’s brand was the Rare Impact Fund, which has a goal of raising $100 million within the next 10 years to provide people with access to mental health services. It’s truly an incredible cause, and Rare Beauty donates 1% of sales to this fund.

The impact that Rare Beauty has made in just three years is truly remarkable, and I highly recommend looking at their website to see a full report of the success and positive change that the company has achieved so far.

If this doesn’t make you want to buy some new makeup products, I don’t know what will. Now go get your hands on some Rare Beauty!
