Summer is just over the horizon, your sight is set on endless days by the ocean soaking up the sun, but first, you have to make this your best semester yet. Leslie Knope is a true inspiration when it comes to hard work and dedication, so take some of her advice to make sure you don’t end up drowning in all your work before you even get a chance to set foot on the beach.
Seriously, you don’t want to end up like this:
1. Get a planner. Use the Planner.
Whether you invest in a cute Kate Spade planner and some glitter gel pens, or stick to using your phone, make sure you're writing down and keeping track of all of your assignments. There’s no better feeling than staying organized and on top of your homework, quizzes, papers and exams. And if you’re looking for an app to help you stay on track, myHomework Student Planner is perfect.
I know it seems completely impossible to get that ideal 6-8 hours of sleep, but it’s essential for staying productive and engaged in your work. If you really want to invest in improving your sleep, download an app like Sleep Cycle. It tracks your sleep patterns and wakes you up at the best time, so you feel well rested, and then gives you tips on how to get a perfect night’s sleep.
3. Look Good, Feel Good.
It’s hard to admit, but we all know wearing sweatpants is a universal sign that your day is bound to be unproductive. You wear sweatpants so you can get back from class and nap the rest of the day. That doesn't mean you have to dress over the top all the time, but try and wear things that make you feel confident and ready to take on the day, rather than exhausted and unmotivated.
4. When it comes to relationships, know your priorities
Appreciate your friends. They’ve seen you at both your best and at your worst, and they choose to stick by your side. They’re who you go to when you want to sit around and watch vine compilations for hours, and they’re who you go to when you need to rant about how absolutely dreadful your math class is. Don’t abandon them the second you start talking to a new guy.
5. Put your phone away while you're studying
We all know it will help us be more productive but just can’t seem to let go. Still, don’t worry. Here are some apps that will force you to sit and get work done without checking your phone every 2 minutes: Forest and Focus Keeper.
6. De-stress with some karaoke at late night
Grab some friends, get up there and do your best rendition of "Summer Nights". Or if you’re not that confident in your karaoke skills, sit back, relax and watch others sing their hearts out. It’s a serious stress reliever.
7. Know your worth.
Be confident in yourself and your work.
Know that while your grades are important, there is a time for work and a time to have fun. There is a time to worry about homework and a time to go out for hot chocolate dates with your friends. Don’t let stress overwhelm you this semester. If you channel your inner Leslie Knope, you’re bound to be successful.
Good luck this semester, collegiettes!
