My February Music Wrap-Up & Playlist

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

Despite being only 28 days, February treated the music community well between the new music released, the plethora of performances, and announcements that gave music fans something to look forward to in the coming months.

New music

Here’s a playlist with some of my favorite February releases! Highlights of the month include P!nk releasing her ninth studio album Trustfall, Lana Del Rey’s single “A&W” off of her upcoming album Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, and Gracie Abram’s debut album Good Riddance. Additionally, both Niall Horan and the Jonas Brothers dropped their lead singles for their upcoming albums. Niall Horan will release his sophomore solo album The Show on June 9, 2023, while the Jonas Brothers’ second album since reunion, The Album, will be released May 12, 2023.

The Grammys

Music’s biggest night took place in early February, and as always, artists came dressed to impress. The biggest news of the night was Beyoncé, who won four of her nine nominations, becoming the most-awarded person in Grammy history. Other major winners of the night included Harry Styles, who won Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for Harry’s House, Lizzo, who won Record of the Year for “About Damn Time,” and Bonnie Raitt, who won Song of the Year for “Just Like That.”

The Super bowl Rihanna Concert

As a whole, February’s most anticipated event is the Super Bowl, which this year featured Rihanna as its half-time performer. Cara Delevingne hit the nail on the head when she showed up with a shirt reading “Rihanna concert interrupted by a football game, weird but whatever.” And Rihanna didn’t disappoint as she performed sections of her greatest hits including “Rude Boy,” “B*tch Better Have My Money,” “Where Have You Been,” and “Work” before ending the show with a stunning performance of “Diamonds” as her stage rose above the field.

Between new bops, fashion statements, and unforgettable performances, February certainly delivered for the music community. March looks to be promising as well with Taylor Swift kicking off her Eras Tour, Miley Cyrus dropping her next album, and so many other new songs waiting to be heard!
