Joe Goldberg returned to our screens for yet another captivating installment in Netflix’s You. The fourth season is being released in two parts, and Part 1 arrived in early February. The season starts off with a bang — Joe has finally let go of Marienne and is determined to start fresh. Now adopting the name Jonathan Moore, he travels to London and begins a new life as a literature professor. To no surprise, Joe has his head turned by yet another love interest. With this, he is introduced to a group of London’s elite socialites, and in true Joe fashion, murder. Yet, he is not the one committing these crimes. Joe is being watched by one who threatens to expose him and his past.

Our OG Stalker now has one of his own?!

It doesn’t take long for a body to appear, and shocker — it was in Joe’s apartment. After a night of heavy drinking and drug use, he is awoken with barely any recollection of the night prior. After disposing of the body, he is greeted with an anonymous message, thanking him for taking care of the body. Talk about a twist! I guess Joe is innocent — this time.

Assuming that it is someone within his new “friend” group, Joe begins to submerge himself deeper and deeper into their circle. This leads him down a path of secrets and death. After the second murder, the “Eat The Rich” killer has now made headlines. As tensions rise, everyone within the group begins to point fingers, specifically at Joe. He’s the new guy in the group, and the deaths started just after he was introduced to them. Out of the group, Roald is most suspicious of Joe and nearly kills him. The killer is revealed to be Rhys Montrose, author and future politician. Since the moment the two had met in the first episode, Rhys had developed an unhealthy fixation on Joe and now wanted the two of them to partner up and blame Roald for the murders. Not the type of partnership I was expecting Joe to be a part of this season.

has joe developed a new love interest?

It wouldn’t be You if Joe didn’t have someone catch his eye. Kate was the partner of Rhys’ first victim, Malcolm, and had already seen Joe as a questionable character. This stemmed from the fact that Joe saved Kate from a mugging but requested that he not be mentioned to the police. If he wanted to make himself not seem suspicious, he did a terrible job. However, the two seem to be drawn to each other throughout the season, even having sex. Yet, at the end of Part I, Joe refuses to let himself get too close and ends the fling. It’s clear that he did this as a safety precaution, but for Kate? Or for himself?

What Should We expect in part 2?

As we are approaching the release of Part 2, we can expect to see Joe not only try to catch Rhys but also control his underlying feelings towards Kate. The final episode ended with Rhys officially announcing his candidacy for mayor, leading Joe to develop a new obsession — to bring him down. As I’m anxiously waiting for the release, I’m curious to see how Joe plans to go from killer to “savior.”
