6 Hairstyles That Will Make You Feel Like A Gym Baddie

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

Going to the gym in a cute outfit always makes my workout 10 times better, but one thing that has always been challenging is coming up with a cute and easy hairstyle to go with my fit. Although a simple ponytail will always work like a charm, sometimes it’s fun to switch it up. It’s difficult enough getting up and going to the gym, so coming up with a new hairstyle to try can make getting ready even more daunting. Here are six hairstyles that I love to wear to the gym, and hopefully you will too!

Slicked-back Bun

The slicked-back bun is a classic gym hairstyle, and with so many variations and products to help hold your bun up, your hair will be manageable throughout your workout. The most important part of this look is a stronghold gel. When I started to do this style I had the hardest time trying to get the perfect slick back look, but all it really takes is a bore bristle brush and a LOT of gel.

Dutch/french braid Pigtails

This hairstyle can get tricky for some of us, and that’s why there are so many different variations. French braids and Dutch braids are great ways to get your hair out of your face when you work out. I personally love this style because it’s such a simple way to have a more unique hairstyle while also managing to get some beachy waves after.

Front braids

This one is definitely for our girlies who love to keep their hair down at the gym, although we all know that’s a challenge. Front braids are so simple and adorable, and also keep your hair perfectly out of your face. If you do try this style and you feel like having your hair down is not the move for the gym then you can always just pull your hair up into a ponytail, and leave your braids down or tuck them into your pony.

pony tail braid

I like this style because it’s very sleek, but also athletic, and obviously the gym is the perfect place to give off that vibe. With this hairstyle being so simple, it’s definitely something to try. All you need to know is how to pull your hair up and how to do a simple braid. If your braid isn’t agreeing with your hair you could try a twist instead, by simply twisting two sections of your hair together.

French Braid

A simple braid is actually my favorite gym hairstyle, and with a little gel and hairspray, it can stay out of your face through a long workout, or leave it loose and simple. I love when people are able to incorporate their own style into their gym fits, and a French braid or regular braid are both great ways to do that. It’s hard to incorporate your style into a cute workout fit, but a simple loose braid is great if your look is more boho or hippy.

Bubble braids

One bubble braid, two bubble braids… you can’t go wrong. I love this hairstyle because it’s so easy to do, taking little to no skill. If you want to spice up a simple ponytail, just grab some elastic bands and make some bubbles. It’s absolutely necessary to try this hairstyle at least once because you’ll love it.

These hairstyles are guaranteed to make you feel like a baddie at the gym, which will make your workout so much better. So next time you put together a cute gym fit maybe try one of these styles to go along with it. Hopefully, this list makes getting ready for the gym a little easier.
