Why did you choose to join HC?

I chose to join HC because I have always loved writing and in the past few years have found that I love photography, content creation, and social media management. I initially joined as a staff writer and social media director of HC @ UAlberta, and now I am the president, still writing, and continuing to develop some entrepreneurial skills through the organization.

What does a typical day look like for you? Imagine you were vlogging your day, what would that vlog look like?

A typical day for me starts with hot yoga. After yoga, and once I’m ready for the day, I like to get out of the house as soon as possible and onto campus. I start most days with a cup of coffee and I go through the Anki flashcards that I planned to do for the day. Next I have class, and I typically stack my classes on a few days per week so that I can get in focus mode, and stay in focus mode. During my lunch break (usually around 11) I have a lunchtime routine. Alongside eating, I take this time to practice my French and Spanish, I learn an arabic word every day, I review and adjust my goals, I do an MCAT prep question, I post on socials, and I enjoy some time on social media. After classes are over for the day, I try to jump right into reviewing the content that I learned that day, in order to consolidate it. I typically have dinner with my boyfriend Diego and spend my evenings either relaxing, studying, working, or finishing up some work for my extracurriculars. I ALWAYS aim for 7+ hours of sleep.

What do you think of when you think about UAlberta? What’s the first thing that comes to mind (don’t overthink it!)

The first thing that comes to mind when I think about UAlberta is growth, development, and change. University has been such a season of growth for me as an individual, change in all areas of my life, and development of new ideas and skills. I am very happy that I decided to attend UAlberta for my undergraduate.

Go-to meal/ food spot on Campus?

REMEDY. I am a sucker for samosas (so cost effective!) and the occasional butter chicken!

Go-to study spot on Campus?

Love 3rd and 4th floor of CCIS for the ambient noise and the sunlight.

If you weren’t in university, (or at least if you weren’t in your current program and career path) what would you be doing?

I think I would be pursuing content creation and/or entrepreneurship. I am extremely interested in those areas and I am beginning to try to pursue them as a “side hustle” alongside my education and career path.

Jumping off from that, what are you most passionate about right now? (or in general)

Learning. I am finally at a point in my degree where I am learning things that truly interest me. I am learning new skills through my jobs and extracurriculars. I have taken reading for pleasure back up, I am practicing learning languages, I am learning to be more disciplined. Learning and discipline are my words for 2020.

Whats the biggest lesson you’ve learned recently? (ie in the past year or since the semester started)

It is okay to focus on me, to say no, to prioritize my needs, and to “let people down” sometimes. I have learned that I can’t pour from an empty cup.

Last series you binge watched?

The Witcher on Netflix! My boyfriend convinced me to watch it with him and I ended up LOVING it!

What’s the last book you read?

1984 by George Orwell.

Top 3 songs right now?

Not really into music right now… top three podcasts however are RISE Podcast with Rachel Holli, As a Woman Podcast with Dr. Natalie Crawford and The Productivity Show by Asian Efficiency.

Whats one misconception you feel people have of you?

That I have amazing time management because I am so busy – it is something that I am still working on and that I struggle with everyday.

What does your YouTube suggested feed look like?

Med School Vlogs, University Week In My LIfe’s, Healthy Habits, and Productive Morning Routines.

What does your Instagram explore page look like?

Pre-med, Medical School, MCAT, and travel content.

What’s one thing you’re looking forward to in the coming academic year? (or year in general?)

Taking my MCAT! This is a big step in my career path and I am excited to challenge myself (but also excited to get it over with)

How would you say HC has impacted your life?

HC has given me so many opportunities for networking, forming professional relationships, developing as an individual, broadening my skills and interests, and growing as a leader.

What is your vision for HC?

Everyone on campus knows about us. Our team is full of diverse, unique individuals who are motivated and driven, and are gaining valuable skills and opportunities through Her Campus. I would love to see members of our team get invited to cover events, to review products, and to expand their network.

What do you wish more people knew about HC?

I wish that more people knew that writing for Her Campus does not mean that you have to be a perfect writer, with an intense professional styles. Her Campus can be what you want it to be for you! The time commitment can be minimal or HUGE, and you can write about whatever interests you! Her Campus welcomes anyone and everyone.
