5 Options for Guilt-Free Late Night Feasts

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tulane chapter.

We’ve all had the morning when you realize you basically feasted before heading to bed after a night out. Sadly, the two pizza crusts, empty bag of potato chips, and the straggling few M&Ms on the floor were probably not the result of someone else. We’re all entitled to indulge once in a while, but this late-night buffet can really be bad for your health when it happens a few times per week. Here are a few healthier “junk” food alternatives, that will have you feeling proud the morning after.

1. “Healthy” Cereal

Unfortunately, this does not include Lucky Charms. Cereals that are low in sugar, and high in fiber and protein can be a satisfying and quick go-to snack. Some good options are Cheerios, Raisin Bran, or Puffins.

2. “Healthy” Gummy Bears

Annie’s Fruit Snacks hit the sweet spot like gummy bears, but are packed with Vitamin C and real fruit juice. They are also gluten free and vegan, making them a great choice for restricted diets.

3. “Healthy” Chocolate

Dove Chocolate Squares are truly an amazing creation. They are sold in a variety of flavors, such as milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and almond filled. Individually wrapped, they allow for easy portion control, and are insanely satisfying.

4. “Healthy” Popcorn

Trader Joe’s Organic Popping Corn is a great example of a better popcorn snack. Since you pop it yourself, you skip the added butter, salt, and pesticides of pre-packed kernels or popcorn.

5. “Healthy” Potato Chips

Although they’re not Fritos, potato chips do not need to be fully shunned. Some brands of baked potato chips can offer some guilt free snacking, such as the Kettle Brand Bakes Potato Chips. I promise, their taste shows no hint of healthiness. Also, if you’re missing Doritos – melting a little cheese on these is not the worst idea.
