Tinderactions: Your Source for the Best Pickup Lines

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tufts chapter.

“Can I hit it in the morning?” When do you ever receive questions like that (outside of a J. Cole song)?  If you’re one of the millions using Tinder, you’re probably used to such lines.  This new iPhone app uses your Facebook info to hook you up with local singles. If you “like” someone’s default photo and they “like” yours, too, congrats – the two of you can chat it up! Leave it to Jumbo junior Nikki Blank to add hilarious responses to some of the most shocking Tinder lines out there.

Nikki’s blog, Tinderactions, highlights the different types of people you will find while using the app.  The people who end up on the site use different openers, ranging from bland to outrageous, all of which are made even more comical by Nikki’s snarky comments. After spending some time on the app, Blank – an English major and midfielder on the Tufts women’s varsity soccer team – began to feel that some users’ comments were too out there to go unseen. “They’re trying to get me to laugh, to get me to respond to them,” says Blank.  You might agree that “some people are creepy”, but Nikki thinks that most guys on Tinder are just trying to be cute and clever.

Nikki admits that she’s met some cool people through Tinder who she wouldn’t have come in contact with otherwise. “It’s cool because guys will strike up a conversation, and it can turn out that we have a bunch of mutual friends.” Similarly, the blogger says that she plans to use the app on her next long trip. “If I go to New York City or spend the summer somewhere other than Boston, it would be fun to meet the people around me.” Even if your match isn’t date-worthy, you can still make friends and get to know some amusing people on Tinder.

This isn’t Nikki’s first successful blog.  She is the creator of the Tufts blog #JumboSwag, Tumblr that uses GIFs to comment on life at Tufts.  When asked how her blogs have gotten so popular, Nikki responds, “I don’t really know.” Through friends and word of mouth, both blogs have gained impressive followings. Even with her busy schedule, Nikki loves blogging. “I try to do posts either before my work, or as they come to me randomly.” As for the future of Tinderactions, Blank plans to keep the blog going for as long “as people use and do ridiculous things on Tinder.” Well, then – it looks like the blog might just be around for a while!
