Six Hand-Warming Drink Recipes That Will Give Starbucks A Run For Its Money

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tufts chapter.

Looking for a satisfying caffeine fix but want something more than your average café con leche? Just in the mood for something warm and soothing? I’ve compiled the six easiest and tastiest seasonal drink recipes that anyone can make:

Pumpkin Spice Latte:

Craving a warm, sugary energy boost? The pumpkin spice latte is the perfect pick-me-up after a long day of studying and can also serve as an energizing morning beverage.

Recipe: Add pumpkin spice powder, vanilla extract, milk and sugar to your brewed coffee.

Gingerbread Latte:

The gingerbread latte is another fall classic. Its sweet, earthy undertones make it a comforting drink while providing you with that much-needed caffeine kick.

Recipe: Add powdered ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, almond milk, and sugar to your brewed coffee.

Chai Tea Latte:

Don’t like coffee but still craving a tasty warm drink? The chai tea latte is perfect for those who need something to perk them up without the jitters that often come with coffee.

Recipe: Brew your chai tea bag and let it steep for a few minutes to allow for maximum chai flavor. After removing the bag, add some nutmeg, cinnamon, sugar, and vanilla almond milk.

Mocha:

Chocolate lovers, this one’s for you! Satisfy that chocolate craving with a relatively guilt-free drink.

Recipe: Brew your coffee and add a spoon (or two) of hot cocoa powder or Nutella!

Peppermint Hot Cocoa:

The peppermint hot cocoa has more of a “holiday spirit” than a “fall vibe,” but it’s never too early to get excited! This drink is especially yummy on cold nights and when paired with cookies or biscotti.

Recipe: Add a drop or two of peppermint extract to your mug of hot cocoa. Top with whipped cream and a dash of cinnamon.

Caramel Macchiato:

One of the most popular drinks on the Starbucks menu, the Caramel Macchiato is perfect all year long!

Recipe: Add milk and caramel sauce (or honey for a slightly different flavor) to your brewed coffee.

* Don’t need the caffeine? Sub in decaf coffee or tea!

** Tired of adding sugar to your coffee and looking for more flavor? Try a spoonful of honey instead; it’s one of my secret coffee tricks! Honey’s sweetness and smooth texture just can’t be replicated with regular sugar.
