Hi y’all! I recently decided to take a mini weekend vacation to Dallas. In case some of you are pondering a visit to Dallas, here are some of the best things to see while you are there (in my opinion).
Dallas Botanical Gardens
While this is a somewhat pricey place to visit ($17/person), the gardens do not disappoint. This garden covers 66 acres, and includes a vast variety of garden vibes. My two favorite areas within the garden were “A Woman’s Garden” and the “Crape Myrtle Allee”. Overall, the garden is absolutely beautiful, boasts many seasonal activities, and provides the serenity perfect for putting a college student’s stressed mind at ease. If you’re going in the next couple of weeks, check out their pumpkin patch in preparation for Halloween!
The Dallas Cattle Drive Sculptures
Any of y’all big cow fans like me? Check out the Dallas Cattle Drive Sculptures! Robert Summers forged these seventy statues in Pioneer Plaza in downtown Dallas (close by the convention center) in commemoration of Texas’s cowboy past. These statues have become a popular Dallas site, and rightfully so! The cows are incredible pieces of artwork, complete with etchings of fur and realistic bone/muscle details. (Also, it is free!)
Reunion Tower
Get a bird’s-eye view of the Dallas skyline, either in the light of day or after the sun sets! The viewing deck of the tower is 470 feet off the group, and offers a 360-degree of the city (but for $17!). I am not sure if a skyline view is fully worth $17, but the view is cool to check out.
Bishop Arts District
Located within Dallas, this neighborhood is known for its small town vibe, cool shops, and art! This neighborhood houses a ton of super cool murals, and is an art-lover’s paradise! I absolutely loved visiting this little slice of heaven in Dallas, and I almost guarantee that you will too! Plus, as an added bonus, seeing the sights in this area won’t put any strain on your wallet!
