“What are you dressing up as for Halloween?”

You’ve been hearing this question since school started. Each time, you give an embarrassed shrug and look away, muttering that you’ll think of something while the other person describes their elaborate costume that will be shipped first-class from a secret warehouse in Japan just in time for the big day. So, what’s a busy collegiette to do? We have some of the most common pop culture costumes you’ll be seeing next week right here, so you can be ahead of the curve:

Miley Cyrus

Let’s just get this one out of the way. You saw it coming, and you’ll be seeing it everywhere on Halloween, so just be mentally prepared. The most popular Miley Cyrus look will probably be the outfit from her scandalous VMA performance with Robin Thicke (so if you’re looking for a couple’s costume, this might not be the classiest option, but hey… it’s Halloween).

Katniss

On a more refreshing note, this sultry symbol of girl power will be a good choice for 2013 thanks to The Hunger Games: Catching Fire premiering in theaters next month. If you’re a Hunger Games fan and you already have a Mockingjay pin, you’re set. But if not, some bloody makeup and a bow and arrow will suffice.

Minion

Despicable Me 2 came out earlier this year and everyone’s Pinterest feeds have been full of minion cupcakes and crafts, so it’s only natural that this will be an immensely popular Halloween costume. This is also a great costume to wear as a group, so you and your can friends can enjoy being justified in making high-pitched noises at every costume party.

Great Gatsby Flapper

We all fell for Leonardo DiCaprio again this year when we saw him as Jay Gatsby on the silver screen. Whether you’re going as Daisy Buchanan or one of the many flappers from Gatsby’s extravagant parties, you can’t go wrong with this glitzy costume.

Fox

“The Fox (What Does The Fox Say?)” easily wins the award for weirdest song of the year, so collegiettes who love weirdness will be seen sporting their foxiest fox (ha!) costumes next week. If you haven’t heard the song or seen the video, watch here.
