Just when the homework load was getting heavier and the tests were getting harder, a light shown through the dark tunnel. Fall season premieres are right around the corner. Summer hiatuses are hard, as we patiently wait until our relationship with our TV can resume once more. It’s hard to move on after season finales, after months of emotional investment, but luckily for us, the TV gods have blessed us with some amazing TV BFFs to look forward to seeing again. We’ve narrowed down to our top 4 favorite characters, boys vs. girls.
The Boys
The Carrie Diaries (The CW)
Walt
After being cheated on by his long-time girlfriend Maggie, surviving a relationship with Donna LaDonna, and being the epitome of a nice guy, how could you not root for Walt? Let’s not also forget the lovely pastel preppy look he sports so well. We can’t wait to be filled in on what crazy shenanigans he got into with Carrie while in the city, and his journey post-acceptance of his sexuality.
New Girl (FOX)
Schmidt
It’s clear Schmidt can have his moments, and at last glance, the douche bag jar was looking pretty full. But we can’t help but love him! He keeps us laughing and it has been nice to see his softer side this last season. We’ll be tuning in to see if Cece or Elizabeth has finally caught up to him after he sprinted away after their three-way confrontation at Cece’s wedding. We’re also wondering if he has added anymore of those silk kimonos to his leisure wear collection.
The Girls
The Mindy Project (FOX)
Mindy
We love Mindy because she keeps it real. This show features all of those moments we don’t get to see during those cheesy rom-com montages, and we like that, because it makes us realize that we aren’t the only ones going through awkward experiences. Kind of like those videos you had to watch in middle school health class, but this is funny, the doctors are cute, and you actually want to watch it. Our only question: when is she going to finally get together with Danny Castellano!?
Scandal (ABC)
Olivia Pope
After getting over the fact that this was the same girl that almost broke up our OTP; Julia Stiles and Sean Patrick Thomas in Save the Last Dance, we were able to admit how much we love Kerry Washington as Olivia Pope. Indulging in the romance and scandal of this show is like listening to Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop”, we know we shouldn’t, but we do anyways. We’re hoping the first episode of the season answers the question, what will putting the white hat back on mean for Olivia (besides looking fabulous)?
