Every so often there comes a movie that unexpectedly qualifies as the perfect date movie, and I’m not talking about the cheesy chick flicks we all drag our boyfriends or guy friends to see. Don’t get me wrong; If you’ve dubbed yourself the chick flick movie queen and your guy is okay with that, then more power to you, but I’m actually talking about a movie that you and your guy will both enjoy. Marvel’s “The Avengers” opens in theaters on May 4, which also happens to be the last day of classes. Coincidence? I think not!

Now, before you eagerly get in line at the Alamo Drafthouse to buy your tickets, you need to know the basics.  “The Avengers” is about a team of superheroes who are brought together to help save Earth from destruction. Unless you’ve been buried under your textbooks in the PCL all year (just wait until finals), then I’m pretty sure you’ve seen the major hype that has surrounded the release of this film. The truth is, whether you consider yourself a die-hard comic book fan by day and a crime-fighting superhero by night, or you just can’t resist a man in uniform, this movie will have a little something that everyone can enjoy.

Don’t worry if you’re not the most superhero savvy. You can still get into the spirit by sporting some superhero-inspired tees and spending the evening teasing each other about your favorite characters. Your guy will surely appreciate being able to talk to you about it for weeks to come, and who would pass up a chance to act like complete goofballs together?
If you’re still not sold on the idea, then maybe the double feature of Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans will change your mind!
