She Can’t Stop; Miley Cyrus’ New Song

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Texas chapter.

We’ve all seen Miley Cyrus’ performance with Robin Thicke at the VMA’s by now, and all the hilarious memes comparing her to Cynthia, the doll of Angelica from the Rugrats, and Hank Hill’s bottom. She has even starred in Big Sean’s music video ‘Fire’ as the main attraction. You might have even seen her latest music videos, ‘We Can’t Stop’ and ‘Wrecking Ball’ – which by the way, I love! Maybe not the music video, but the song… Yes, Miley, Yes.

But have you heard her latest rap song? Yes, the young star not only acts and sings, but she also tested out her rapping skills with a few names you may know. She has a verse with Juicy J and Wiz Khalifa rapping behind the beats of MikeWillMadeIt on a track called ‘23’. The song’s debut was the same day that the ‘Wrecking Ball’ music video came out. But what is the song exactly about? The song refers to Jordans, the shoes made by Michael Jordan and also the number he wore during his pre-first-retirement.

She starts it off with, “I’m in the club, high off purp, with some shades on.” With her denying smoking marijuana in the past, it seems as if Cyrus has no problem reppin’ that green in a song with some of her favorite rappers.

She might be ‘wilding out’ now, but her excuse is that she’s young.

“This is what you’re supposed to do in your 20’s,” Cyrus said in an interview in an article found on the Huffington Post.

What do you think? Is that a good enough excuse for her to be “standing on couches like it’s her house, drinking out of a bottle and acting like she don’t give a f*ck?”
