In any creative outlet, whether writing, painting, making music, etc., it is typical to experience periods when you are feeling less inspired. Here are some tricks & tips to help reinvigorate that creative spark.

  • Read a book or watch a movie by your favorite writer/director.
    • Remind yourself why you enjoy creative endeavors in the first place.
  • Go on a walk or drive.
    • Inspiration is everywhere & you can find it in your local community.
  • Talk on the phone to a loved one who supports you.
    • They will help remind you of your best traits & also are great for talking through ideas with.
  • Journal
    • You know yourself best & helping to get thoughts on paper-even if they aren’t productive–will help to get the creativity flowing again.
  • Work out
    • Working out is beneficial beyond just the physical. It can help to boost your mood & get you back in a creative groove.
Hi, I'm Madeline Muschalik! This is my fourth year in Her Campus; I wrote for Her Campus at Wake Forest University before transferring to UT in fall 2019. Last year I was the Her Campus Texas Co-President and Campus Correspondent & it was so rewarding. I am excited to explore Austin and learn more about our university through Texas Her Campus. Some of my hobbies include running, reading, yoga, and traveling! I am a Public Relations Major and with a minor in Entrepreneurship and certificate in Creative Writing. Outside of Her Campus I am involved in Texas American Marketing Association, Moody Communication Council, a member of the Kendra Scott WEL Institute Student Council, Texas Kappa Delta, and I am a Transfer Year Interest Group (TRIG) mentor. I love UT & all the amazing opportunities (like Her Campus) that it has to offer!
