One Direction; the boyband of the 2010s. While they’re known for their hits like “What Makes You Beautiful” and “Best Song Ever”, they cannot be judged based on these songs alone. Diving into their discography is sure to send you on a rollercoaster of emotions. As an original and full-time Directioner, I have intensely analyzed each of the boyband’s songs on multiple boring nights. Alone in my room, I have found the best songs for every life occurrence so you don’t have to.

Break up –  Long Way Down

“We built it up so high and now I’m falling, it’s a long way down.” How can one line be more heart breaking? This song effortlessly captures the feeling of a love that was once great as both parties come to terms with the fact that it failed.

Long distance – Back For You

This is a more upbeat song about distance not changing feelings, the confession that every girl wants from their significant other. I can only imagine Harry Styles telling me he’ll be coming back for me.

In love – I Want to Write You a Song

Every comparison in this song is spot on to the feeling of wanting to give someone the world. “I want to lend you my coat, one that’s as soft as your cheek.” Listening to this song feels like the honeymoon stage of a highschool relationship, A.K.A. one of the best feelings in the world.

When your roommate washes clothes at 12 AM and the dryer is right next to your room – Up All Night

“DJ got the floor to shake.”

Going to Trader Joe’s for one item because H-E-B doesn’t carry it – One Thing

“Cause you’ve got that one thing.”

When you leave your emotional support water bottle in class – Half a Heart

“I’m half a heart without you. I’m half a man at best.”

When your sneaky link wants to meet your friends – “They Don’t Know About Us”

“They don’t know about the things we do.”

Having One Direction infection has its perks.
