Expect three things when you have weekly lunches with Jacob Weaver. 1) Every week, he will introduce you to at least five new people 2) When asked if he wants anything from Starbucks, he will answer āGrande iced coffee, and ask them to add chocolateā 3) He will probably have to leave early for an interview about working for a presidential campaign. So thus is Jacobās life; He shakes hands and heās kind and most of all, he remembers you. Heās a very good two-stepper, but will leave the dance floor to make sure you have a safe ride home, and heās gone viral on YouTube for staring at unsuspecting strangers around campus, a video that has been viewed by 189,000 people. All these numbers add up to one thing; Jacob Weaver is one well-liked guy. I asked him what was one word heād like people to use to describe him, and he rightly answers āSociable,ā but then he charmingly adds a selfĀ deprecatingĀ quip, and I get a hit of the humility that makes Jacob so likable. āBut my girlfriend calls me awkward.āĀ

Her Campus Texas: What organizations are you a part of?
Jacob Weaver: Currently I serve in the Students ministry at Austin Stone, Iām a college leader for a small group of 6th grade guys. Iām also in BYX, which is a Christian fraternity here at UT. Iām a senior this year, but my freshman, sophomore and junior years of college I was involved in Ignite Texas, which is a camp for incoming freshman and transfer students designed to connect them with community at UT. Itās a great organization and Iāve been privileged to serve as a counselor, co-chair and Development Executive.Ā
HCTX: What has been the most rewarding thing youāve done at UT?
JW: Leading a small group at Ignite. The guys I led are still really close to me and itās been awesome watching them lead others.
HCTX: Whatās your favorite spot on campus?
JW: I really like hanging out in the fireplace spots in the SAC, especially in the winter.
HCTX: What TV character do you most relate to?Ā
JW: Corey from Boy Meets World. I like to help people, but sometimes IĀ just make a fool of myself.
HCTX: Tell me a little about that video of you creepily looking at people. You know the one Iām talking about.
JW: So it was a pledge video for BYX. We had a talent show and wanted to create a video that would make the actives laugh. My friend Pierce filmed it and we finished it in about an hour and a half. He edited it in about two days and once it was uploaded it went kind of viral. The actives loved it.
HCTX: Do you have any quotes that you live by?
JW: āGod doesnāt call the qualified, he qualifies the calledā
HCTX: What are you plans for after college?
JW: Hopefully change the world. Iāll let you know when I know.Ā
