DIY Projects to Check Out This Holiday Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Texas chapter.

I have never prided myself on being an overly artsy or crafty individual, but I have always admired other people who make do-it-yourself projects look easy. With the year slowly coming to an end and winter break approaching rapidly, I realized upon my return home for the holidays I would find myself with extra free time. With this in mind, the 2019 holiday season seemed like the perfect time for me to look into DIY crafts to keep myself busy. I scoured the internet and found a couple that I think I will attempt to recreate later this year. If DIY crafts interest you too, I hope this list provides you with some fun inspiration.

Marbleized Mugs

I am an avid tea and hot chocolate drinker, so I was thrilled to find a cute DIY mug project. This project doesn’t actually require too many supplies. Basically you will need a plain white mug, two colors of nail polish, and a bowl of water. I thought this was going to be really complicated but it actually looks pretty simple and fast, so if you want to make multiple mugs with different colors that shouldn’t be a problem. DIY Hot Chocolate Bar

Once you have your marbleized mugs made, what better way to use them than with a homemade hot chocolate bar? This is a great, creative idea for any holiday party or friend gathering you might be planning. Though this DIY does require more supplies, it is still very easy and quick, and most of the supplies are just toppings. If you don’t have a lot of DIY skills (like me), I think this is a great place to start. For more info on this DIY check out this link- https://www.100daysofrealfood.com/hot-chocolate-bar/

Chocolate and Coffee Stirring Spoons

While on the subject of hot chocolate, I thought this DIY project was super cute and really fun. These chocolate stirring spoons are a perfect way to make a cup of cocoa or coffee even sweeter. You don’t need too many supplies and you’ll get to eat chocolate while making them, so what’s not to like? Mason Jar Snow Globes

This is another DIY project that I think looks more complicated than it actually is. All you really need is a small, plastic tree, a mason jar, some glue, some water, and some glitter (or lots of glitter). This craft shouldn’t take you too long either, and it’s a fun idea to do with friends. Just a couple of minutes, a couple of supplies, and voila, you have your own little Winter Wonderland. Snowy Mason Jar Candle Holders

If you have extra mason jars left over after making a snowglobe, this is a perfect idea to put all of your supplies to good use. I am in love with candles and find them especially appropriate when the holidays approach. This is a great way to make a festive holiday candle holder to brighten your home while the temperatures drop. It is easy, quick, and it looks amazing once it is finished. Gingerbread Sugar Scrub Cubes

One final DIY project to check out this winter are these gingerbread sugar scrub cubes. With temperatures dropping each passing day, there is nothing more warm and relaxing than a bubble bath. These sugar scrub cubes are sure to make your skin super soft and they are also supposed to smell great. If you use a gingerbread man mold, you can even make them look like cute little gingerbread men!
