UT students are some of the busiest in the country. Next to the rigorous course loads and the challenge of preparing for future careers, balancing life in Austin can be difficult. The city is not only home to the Forty Acres, but a variety of venues and events that while entertaining, can complicate an already busy lifestyle. This week, collegiettes revealed their top apps that every Longhorn lady needs to be learned and lively in Austin. The following were noted by UT students to be the best in: (1) staying on top of school work, (2) staying informed on campus, and (3) navigating the city of Austin.

Awesome Note: Best organizer ($3.99)
There are apps for note-taking, to-do listing, and calendars, but Awesome Note is the best collaboration of all of these. I have the iPad version, and my favorite aspect is that it allows me to create new folders I can sync to my computer and iPhone. Everything you need to organize your life!
StudyBlue: A better version of Google Docs (FREE)
This app allows you to upload papers and notes, collaborate with friends, and create flash-cards that can be viewed on your iPhone’s screen. Now you don’t have to carry around your notes or worry about losing note cards. Additionally, StudyBlue has an online database of notes that students have made in previous years, which are organized by subject!
Pages, Keynote and Numbers: iPhone’s easy to use version of Word, Excel and PowerPoint ($9.99 each)
This Apple version of the helpful Microsoft programs can update from your phone to your iPad, or Mac computer. It’s easy to use and accessible for on-the-go studying.

Texas Student Media: Up-to-date coverage of campus events (Free)
This app is, as iTunes describes, “a portal to all of the great information and entertainment provided by UT students.” It is a composite list of all the events, sports updates and campus news, provided by The Daily Texan. You can share articles with your friends and listen to the live-streaming news on KVRX, UT’s campus radio station.
The University of Texas at Austin app: Everything UT in the palm of your hand (Free)
The hub for UT news, sports scores, the UT directory, campus maps and GPS (perfect for first-year students). You sign in with your UTeid and it takes you to features like your grades, Bevobucks, and finals schedules.

Park Me: Fantastic Time Saver (Free)
There are literally thousands of people who hit the streets of Austin every weekend, so finding parking can be pretty impossible. This app will show you not only where parking is, but the cost as well. This huge database is a praise-worthy application; iTunes gives it five stars.
Austin Food Carts: Best way to find food fast (Free)
A complete list (including menus), of every food cart in Austin. Austin Food Cart uses GPS to pinpoint your location to tell you the exact distance and travel time to your favorite food trailers. When you’re hungry, there is no time to waste.
JamBase: One-stop app for all local events and shows (Free)
What may be better than fast food is free music shows. With JamBase, you can find local concerts and all your favorite artists in “the world’s largest database of live musc.”
