If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed with juggling school and extracurriculars, our girl Ambika totally feels you. Here’s a look into the life of our adventurous campus cutie who tells us she “will try anything.”
Her Campus Texas: I hear you’re a busy girl! What sort of things are you involved in on campus?
Ambika Shivarajpur: I’m on an Indian fusion dance team called Texas Mohini, and it takes hours of practice but it’s a lot of fun, and also very rewarding. I’m part of Texas Public Health, which has been a great way to make friends in my major. I’m also in a service group called Global Brigades, and I’m excited to go to Honduras with them next winter break!
HCTX: Woah! What will you be doing in Honduras?
AS: We’re working on one community’s water systems to help them get cleaner water and prevent epidemic diseases. This trip will help me appreciate things I take for granted, and being a public health major, I want to help the underprivileged achieve a better quality of life. I’m also really excited to be friends with all the kids!
HCTX: Tell us more about how you got involved in Texas Mohini.
AS: I’ve been dancing my whole life! I heard about Mohini when I came to UT, and I really liked their choreography and the fact that they’re an all-girl Bollywood team. I love Bollywood so naturally I wanted to join!
HCTX: What’s it like being single in college?
AS: The time of my life!
HCTX: There are probably a lot of guys interested in you though… what would your idea of the perfect date be?
AS: Dinner at Chipotle, and Breaking Bad after! I’m really chill, so get to know me!
HCTX: Public health is a lot of work! Favorite place to study on campus?
AS: GDC (Dell Computer Science Building)
HCTX: Care to share your favorite quote with our readers?
AS: “There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up.”
